Obituary

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Chauncey Ambrose Hall on April 17, 2026 at his loving home. Chauncey, the cherished son of the late Percy and Irene Hall. He was born on March 9, 1955 in Washington, D.C., where he attended District of Columbia Public School. After graduation, Chauncey committed to serving his country and enlisted in the United States Army. Following his military service, he devoted over 20 years to a career with the District of Columbia Housing Authority. He maintained a steady presence at Barry Farms’ location until his retirement. Following a renewal of his faith, he joined Hana Joe Hana as an usher at Temple of Praise Church, where he continued to serve. Driven by his love for ushering God’s people, he remained faithful to his post to the end, serving even through illness and pain. He was a profoundly devoted husband, cherishing his wife so deeply that he wanted her by his side every waking moment.

Chauncey was respected by everyone he encountered. He always said, he wanted to be the one to welcome souls home at Heaven’s gate. He loved to dress well. He was charming and good-looking. He liked listening to music and dancing. He enjoyed photographing people. He was a true Burgundy and Gold through and through. Through every trial, he held fast to the belief that love was his center.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kenyetta Hall (decreased). Kenyetta’s children whom he helped raise: Kyleena, Darionte and Demarco. His siblings: Joseph Hall (Sandra), and Alberta Dean, Jerome Hall (decreased), Joan Hall (decreased), Margerita Hall (decreased). He is survived by several stepchildren: Janice, LaShonda, William, Angie (decreased), Katrina (DeWitt), and Dana. Several nephews and nieces and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a multitude of extended family and dear friends whose lives he touched.

Eulogist: Pastor Lamar Staples/ Officiating: Pastor Ramona Moore
