A MOTHER’S TRIBUTE
How do I even begin to put into words my final good-bye as my world is breaking apart. I think back on our first encounter as your father hurried to travel from Germany as you made your way into the world. There was nothing magical when I laid my eyes on you. I laughed as your grandmother; Oretha handed you to me.
As I cuddled you in my arms, I made a promise to you as I said a silent prayer to thank God for my beautiful daughter as my heart overflowed with so many emotions. I vowed that I would love you enough to protect you by giving you my love willingly. Give all my time and efforts, thoughts, trust, and prayers to and for you to God to keep you safe.
I loved you enough to care, guide, hold, comfort, listen, and cry with you and wipe away your tears.
I would love you enough to act silly around you and be comfortable to share your hopes and dreams. I loved you enough to share all of your sentiments, goals, fears, hopes and worries, so that you would feel that you never have to hide anything from me but to be yourself and confide in me.
I loved you to want the best for you to wish for your success and to hope for the fulfillment of all your heart desires and successful endeavors as you made choices to discover yourself! I wanted my love to make you feel secure enough that you knew my promises to you and my pledge of loyalty, prayers and faithfulness would see you through the roads of hardship that you would surely have to walk while navigating your path.
I loved you enough to cherish our friendship, adore your personality, and see you for who you were that I would fight for you and sacrifice for you if need be. I will miss you as you take your heavenly walk to your Creator and Ancestors. No matter what length of time it’s for and regardless of the distance, believe me when I say that I will always remember you as your Mother that I love you from here to eternity!

Wake: I Shall Wear a Crown
Never Alone Mariah Carey
Song Just a Closer Walk with Thee! [Chorus]
Just a closer walk with Thee
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea
Daily walkin' close to Thee
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be
[Verse 1]
I am weak, but Thou art strong
Jesus, keep me from all wrong
I'll be satisfied as long as I walk
Dear Lord, close to Thee
[Chorus]
[Verse 2]
Through this world of toils and snares
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee
[Chorus]
[Verse 3]
When my feeble life is o ' er
And time for me will be no more Guide me gently, safely o ' er
To Thy kingdom, dear Lord, to Thy shore
