Experts in happiness — an increasingly popular field focused on the scientific understanding of emotional well-being — say that people are happier when they spend money on experiences instead of material goods… [Michelle Higgins, NY Times, 7/12/2013] The New Science Defined as “Geospatial Medicine” this new science provides physicians with a more precise clinical understanding about where patients live, work, and play, and how a patient’s movement and place history can reduce exposure or risks to environmental or social hazards that adversely affect personal health. The Statistic The New England Journal of Medicine reports that when it comes to premature death, genetics has only a 30 percent influence; the other 70 percent is attributed to nongenetic factors such as environment, access to health care and individual behaviors.
