With the backdrop of a newly refurbished Walmart AMP and a six-lane section of I-49 running through Pinnacle Hills, which is one of Northwest Arkansas’s most successful developments, Governor Hutchinson visited Rogers recently. What You Need to Know

T

he beginning of early voting season in Northwest Arkansas was marked by a visit from Governor Asa Hutchinson, who was here campaigning for Issue One on a cold and wet day.

Despite the chilly weather, Issue One, also known as the Transportation Sales Tax Continuation Amendment, was a

hot topic for voters in our part of the state.

The Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce worked closely with

the governor, the “For Issue One” campaign, and the Arkansas Good Roads Foundation to secure the passage of Issue One in Benton County.

Receiving 67,347 votes, with just 57 percent of the votes cast, the measure passed easily. However, Issue One did not fare as well in other regions. It failed to gain passage in Arkansas’s most populous county, Pulaski County. In fact, across Arkansas’s most populous areas, Benton County outperformed all the larger counties on this issue.

Praise came from Robert Moery, Director of the Campaign for Issue One, who was quoted as saying, “The passage of Issue One means Benton County will be provided the infrastructure resources it needs to keep up with the current regional growth and plans for future growth.

Leadership Benton County Announces 2021 Class

enton County has been blessed with a wealth of financial, physical and human resources, but we sometimes tend to take for granted the future of our

area by simply assuming that the appropriate leadership talent will emerge to guide us whenever we need it.

The keys to our future are knowledgeable and skilled leaders, willing to step to the forefront, who have an awareness and understanding of all facets of our community, including government, business, education, recreation, utilities, infrastructure, housing, health care, social services and more.

The Leadership Benton County (LBC) program provides leadership training specific to regional issues facing the county and serves as the Chamber’s training ground for future leaders in Benton County. Goals of the 11-session program include identification and motivation of individuals with leadership potential; acquainting participants with community needs, challenges and opportunities; offering a forum for dealing with community issues; and challenging future leaders to become involved with local issues and the process of decision-making.

he Rogers Public Art Commission has selected artists Mantra, Lakwena, and Octavio Logo to produce artwork for Railyard Park in Downtown Rogers. Installation of their pieces is underway. Artist installation began Friday, November 6. Railyard Park is expected to open to the public

alco Theatres, with Northwest Arkansas locations in Rogers, Springdale and Fayetteville, has reopened.

As part of their safe reopening strategy, a safety program based on state and local directives providing extra measures has been implemented at

each of their locations.

Safe social distancing with floor decals spaced six feet apart

appear at the box office kiosk, concession stand and other guest areas.

Contactless ticket purchases, payments and redemption have also been implemented. They now have plexiglass dividers at guest services and concession terminals.

All seating has been properly distanced via their seat reservation system, ensuring that all groups are seated at least six feet away from one another. Masks are required upon entry into the building and must be worn at all times, except when actively eating or drinking while seated within the auditorium.
