A Message from the President/CEO

Pushing Forward to Our 100th Anniversary Welcome to our 2021 Business Plan issue of the Chamber Voice of Business. This is your quick-guide to our 3-Year Strategic Plan and its supporting 2021 Program of Work for each of the Chamber’s divisions. I hope you take time to read it; you’ll get to know your Chamber better and learn what we’re doing for you and why it benefits the Rogers-Lowell Area.

As you know, we just ended one of the most difficult years for business in recent memory. Never have communities and businesses had to be so creative in rethinking what is possible and so flexible in creating new ways of doing business to survive this new normal. The good news is that the entire business community, especially our small businesses, stepped up to the challenge and met it head on with resilience, resourcefulness, and perseverance.

As we move out of the pandemic and into our new normal, we should all be comforted by the fact that our business community arrived on the other side of this health crisis better and stronger than ever. This is a sign of renewed hope because small businesses represent the best of free enterprise and are the economic lifeblood of our local and national economy. They bring prosperity and innovation to our community and help stimulate economic growth by creating jobs.

2021 is our 99th year as a Chamber of Commerce. As we prepare for a 100th anniversary please know that we take our role as a leader of the business community and as a partner and good neighbor very seriously. Our alliances with the Northwest Arkansas Council, the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce allow us many opportunities to have a voice at the table. That means you have many opportunities to have your voice represented where it matters most.

As we work with our local and regional communities, with state government, and with the federal government, we are more determined than ever to advocate for free trade, quality healthcare, an adequate workforce, a free enterprise business environment, and quality of life initiatives. Together, it all supports quality growth that allows our world-class businesses to attract a world-class workforce.

Your role as our partner is to communicate with us your needs and priorities based upon your unique perspective and what you deal with on a daily basis. As an organization that represents business, we’re only as good as the feedback and communications we receive from our members. You are the Chamber.

The Next Five Years | 2022-2027 As the Keeper of the Community Vision, the Chamber’s missionwork is focused on implementing our Vision 100 Community Action Plan for the Rogers-Lowell Area. Vision 100 is what our community has envisioned for itself in anticipation of the population reaching 100,000 in less than 15 years.

We built our vision for the future by convening community tables to collaborate with residents and our leaders. Now, our way forward incorporates our community’s values. We are aligned with a shared vision. Vision 100 is the Chamber’s roadmap to enhance our quality of life and ensure readiness for the future. It guides our mission-work for the next five years through 2027.

We are your Chamber of Commerce. We are influencers for responsible growth, catalysts for positive change, and conveners of the community collaborating on solutions for today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. We work with our members, partners, and investors to accomplish our mission-work. Together, we are the trusted source for growing our region’s business, activating high-impact leaders, and building a strong community. Our mission-work encompasses five key focus areas to achieve our Vision:

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

We activate a diverse next generation of business and community leaders. We champion DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) initiatives, and we engage the right people at the right time to improve our quality of life with quality of place initiatives.

ADVOCACY & GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

We serve as the regional link between business and government to ensure the Voice of Business is represented and heard. We engage the community in the political process from contacting a legislator to registering to vote. By working together, our voices influence positive legislative outcomes for business-driven, public policy.

SMALL BUSINESS & ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT

We curate essential resources for starting, running, and growing business. We open doors to new connections for small businesspeople and entrepreneurs through educational programs and networking events. We listen to our Small Business Council who guides us as the Voice of Small Business, and we advocate for business-friendly legislation by representing small business needs to our legislators.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

We create a pro-business, pro-growth economic environment. We spur economic growth as a key driver for increasing the sales tax base. Our work develops talent pipelines for current and future workforce needs by connecting educators with industries. We offer resources and support to help sustain growth and development from Downtown Rogers to Uptown Rogers and Lowell.

ur Downtown Development division is the primary point-of-contact for economic development in Downtown Rogers and provides resources and help implementing the Downtown Rogers Initiative Plan. They focus on increasing the number of businesses, employees, and residential properties in the downtown core. They also

cultivate strong relations with existing businesses and government entities, identifying opportunities to activate underutilized properties, connecting potential partnerships and facilitating business relations to maximize resources for downtown and the surrounding community.
