The concept of the proposed project evolves around the site and its working class culture.

The proposed project is designing a space for the work commuters. The Work-Cation House provides them with an opportunity to relax and enjoy their luxurious stay while they are on a work/ business trip.

The world is in the age of fourth industrial revolution where our lives are revolving around digital technology. The house uses this contrivance to exhibit its rental space on digital platforms like Air bnb, Uber eats, Swimply, Gumtree. It adapts to the tech world and contributes to the sharing economy in a positive way with due consideration to the planning to spaces and economy

Surrounded by few hotels, motels, and Airbnb accomodations. Large a eas include opened-public green spaces and communit y hubs.

Footscray is a diverse, multicultural area. The site is located at 112, Cowper street Footscray, Victoria.

Footscray is diverse and multicultural as it has many migrants living in the areas.It has close proximity to Melbourne CBD and hence is one of the most livable area.

The chosen site is 112, Cowper street in Footscray. It expands its area across 400m2 (50m x 8m).

There are several factories, industries and offices near the mentioned site. These offices have work commuters travelling to the spot on daily or occassional basis.

The proposed building is a luxury amenity house for work commuters to provide them with a temporary stay

The house intends to propose a vacation like environment while on work trip

The house to be equipped with amenities like pool areas, Performance space, Outdoor spaces, Terrace, Gaming area

The proposed building considers spatial relationship social, communal, private and semi private spaces

Prefabricated Textured Concrete panels

The building is constructed using precast concrete panels and precast floor slabs.

The use of precast/ prefabricated materials will result in less consumption of energy and resources. This will be an environmentally friendly construction with a reduction in noise and dust pollution as well. Moreover, concrete panels used are lightweight and 100% recyclable

Green roof

The building uses a green roof on all its floors which will provide shade, remove heat from the air, and reduce temperatures of the roof surface and surrounding air. It will also provides a great sound insulation and improve the overall asthetics of the space and saves energy

Windows and glazing

The building uses double glazed Low E coated clear glazing. These windows will help to reduce the destructive UV rays without actually blocking the sunlight. Also, they will help to maintain the temperature thus resulting in reduced energy consumption

Free- flowing plan that allows for adaptability as demand changes for a place. Adaptability and privacy is maintained using bi-folding doors to respond the changing nature of house ownership and house- sharing.

Prefabrication

The building is made from pre-fabricated building elements. This lightweight prefabricated construction can be adopted on a large scale and applied on multiple sites

It was inspired by open-source Wiki house project which standardises a construction method to be applied on different sites
