Cytogenetics Cytogenetic Analysis for Hematological Malignancies Test Purpose
: To help the precise diagnosis, prognosis, treatment guidance, treatment response evaluation and understanding the biology of hematological malignancies. u To elucidate and define the particular genetic subtypes of hematological malignancies. u To find out the recurrent and additional chromosomal rearrangements. u To establish the presence of a malignant clone. u To help the early prediction of clinical transformation and drug resistance in specific hematological malignancies.
Methodology : Karyotyping. Testing Procedure
: This test includes culture of bone marrow cells, followed by banding and analysis of metaphase cells.

: Bone marrow.
Specimen Volume
: 3-4 ml bone marrow in green top heparin tube.
Collection instructions : Label the vacutainer with patient’s name and specimen type. Specimen Transport : The specimen should be shipped at 18-25°C, do not freeze. It should reach the lab within 24 hours of collection (preferably at the earliest). In case of delay, sample to be stored on the door shelf of the refrigerator. Mandatory : Complete blood count and bone marrow blast Requirements percentage must be provided. Specify detailed clinical history, collection date & time of sample withdrawn on test request form*.
