HIGHER AND BETTER

A TRADITION OF CHAMPIONS

“Altiora et Meliora – Higher and Better”

Embracing the University motto drives Raider athletes to new heights on and off the field.

ATHLETICS

Athletics are a vital component of student life at Rivier. Becoming a Raider is about competing, but it’s bigger than that. It’s about teamwork, leadership, and trust. You will work harder and push yourself while never forgetting your team and the larger community. This is where you will excel as a whole person—as a team member, a student, and a future leader in your field.

Coaches take their roles and responsibilities seriously; they shape student-athletes into the best they can be athletically and academically. Raiders are coached to win for life.

“Our student-athletes learn valuable life lessons every day through athletics. Participating on a Rivier athletic team teaches them to manage academics, be a valuable part of a team, and to look beyond themselves to serve their communities. The Athletics Department strives to educate the whole person and to give each student-athlete an incomparable experience.” – Craig Kolek, Associate Athletic Director, Head Coach Women’s and Men’s Volleyball

Rivier’s thirteen intercollegiate teams—six men’s and seven women’s—compete as Division III members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). Conference teams cover New England and are from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine, and Vermont. The GNAC is very competitive, and Rivier’s central location in the conference makes for ease of travel. Teams that win a GNAC championship are automatic qualifiers for the NCAA Tournament.

WORK HARD, PLAY HARDER Our teams, players, and coaches have won GNAC championships, MVP awards, tournament titles, Player of the Week honors, All-American and Coach of the Year awards. At Rivier, excellence is more than just a word—it is ingrained in all that we do. It is something our athletic teams not only pursue, but consistently achieve. Rivier’s thirteen intercollegiate teams— six men’s and seven women’s—compete as Division III members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).

TAKE THE LEAD Raider Athletics are a key piece of the bigger picture, serving to enhance the overall experience of our studentathletes. Student-athletes benefit from the competition, commitment, and achievement of college athletics. More importantly, they achieve personal and professional growth working closely with teammates and classmates. Their experiences as student-athletes contribute to their academic achievement and career preparation; they learn how to work collaboratively toward a common goal, time management, and leadership. Rivier Raiders stand out by developing skills that support their overall success.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE True to Rivier University’s mission of transforming hearts and minds to serve the world and culture of service, our athletic teams go beyond competing. Raider teams give back to the community through partnerships with the Special Olympics, Team Impact, Penny Pickers, Boys and Girls Club, Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter, Catholic Charities, and several other charitable organizations. Our teams also volunteer their time in the community supporting causes and athletic clinics at schools throughout the region.

“As a captain of the Rivier Women’s Soccer team, I have been transformed into a leader on and off the field. I have grown personally and will carry all the attributes I have gained with me for the rest of my life. Being part of a collegiate team has been a key navigation tool for time management. Becoming a studentathlete was hands down the best decision I have ever made.”
