raduation is a special time to be celebrated. Although many of the traditional
graduation events have changed, I am pleased we are still able to celebrate with you. It seems like ages ago when I introduced you as the “Graduation Class of 2021.” Who would have known what the year would bring? It wasn’t until we lost our ability to come together at CHS that we realized how much we value our times together. COVID-19 taught me to appreciate our freedom and our times together. I have known most of you for 13 years, and I always enjoy seeing each of you during graduation celebrations. As I look through the pages of our yearbook, I see a group of amazing young people with many talents. You
are now young adults. I hope each of you realizes, regardless of your plans or COVID-19, that you have many opportunities. Set goals and dreams, reach out, ask for advice, and accept support when you need it. When I think back on past graduates at CHS and their achievements, I am impressed. I know you will be a part of that list, too!

or 15 months our graduates have been tested in the fires of isolation, restriction, regulations and ever evolving and fluid situations where the consistent and constant
messages from decision makers was compliance, role with change, adapt and innovate. Our graduates met the challenges of blended learning, learning from home, and meeting the expectations as often as they changed with smiles on their faces, positive attitudes and a willingness to do whatever it took to be successful. Throughout the year our Stars excelled. They continued to be involved in as many activities as were allowed, compete in curricular and co-curricular activities, engage in social action, advocate for peers, learn from and with the adults in their lives, hold down part-time jobs and one even wrote and published a book. They demonstrated Selflessness, Trustworthiness, Ambi-
tion and Resourcefulness. On the darkest of days, when the clouds are the most grey-black and full or rain, we always look for inspirational stories that fill up our cups and remind us of the best that exists in our society. If you need inspiration, look at the graduates of 2021. Our future is as bright as the Stars in the sky with endless possibilities and beauty. Congratulations Carleton North Graduations of 2021. HARTLAND COMMUNITY School Graduates, I challenge you to be a glass half full type of person and always look for the positive in every challenge or situation.
