FALL BACK TO SCHOOL

YTH CONVERSATION STARTERS This year, we want you to be equipped to ask your kids the right questions at the dinner table, in car rides, or late at night when your teenager is ready to talk after 10pm. Instead of simply asking “how was your day”, here are some ways you can engage in more intentional conversations with your teen. 1.)

“What is something that you are proud of that you did today?” • Take time afterwards to affirm them and share what you are proud of in them.

2.) “What are you experiencing online, in school, or with friends that you have questions about? Let’s talk about it together!” 3.) “Where have you felt frustrated or discouraged lately?” • Take time to encourage them, speak truth into them and help them in their discouragement. Pray together afterwards! 4.) “What are things in the world that are overwhelming you right now? What do you feel like God has been saying about those things when you go to him in prayer?” 5.) “What is one thing you are dreaming about and want to accomplish someday?” 6.) “What are things we as your parents or guardians, do for you that make you feel supported, loved and cared for?” 7.)

“How are your friends doing? How have you been a good friend to them this week? Where do you need your friends to come alongside you?”

8.) “How are you juggling school and (fill in the blank with the extracurricular activities your children do such as sports, band, etc.)?” 9.) “What is something God is teaching you right now? (Then share with them what God is teaching you about right now)” OOL * CH F S
