Rehab Restores her 'Peppy Step'

Back in the driver seat Because of the friends of RiverStone Health Foundation, Karen Casterline wasn’t forced to surrender to debilitating pain and fear of surgery. Karen thanks you for making her postsurgical care possible.

In constant discomfort , Karen knew her hip replacement needed to be scheduled immediately. Once an active Montana Women’s Run participant, she could no longer walk to her mailbox and had to stop driving due to unrelenting pain.

Having skilled nursing in the comfort of the home setting expedites the healing process.

During her post-surgery period, RiverStone Health Home Care staff identified an uneven gait in her walk that was caused by a birth abnormality. They guided her as she walked and coached her to a normal, even step.

Karen is grateful that RiverStone Health staff was experienced and identified this lifelong problem. They provided several other tips and tools, many of which she utilizes today.

Living alone, Karen feared recovery from such a major surgery. She is grateful that friends recommended RiverStone Health Home Care, which allowed her to remain home for recuperation. She also learned how to adapt daily living chores to maintain her independence.

RiverStone Health nurses arrived at Karen’s door the day after her hip replacement. She was very pleased with the nurses’ caring and accommodating professionalism. Home Care staff worked with her on twisting, turning and walking. They helped her rearrange her household in ways that allowed her to cook and easily grab everyday items.

After three short weeks of rehab, Karen was walking without aid and driving again. She has dreamed of meeting her 1-year-old grandbaby, a wish now able to become reality.

Friends Mike and Diane funded a new GE Versana ultrasound machine. They saw the importance of timely care, eliminating the need of a referral. The new technology enhances care for injury to hips, wrists, biceps, fingers and toes.

In addition, the machine aids in teaching tomorrow's A rolling cart makes physicians on evaluation movement easier within RiverStone Health Clinic. and injection for these type of injuries. Gifts of equipment enhance the innovative, quality primary and preventive care delivered by our team as well as allow healthcare students to train on the most advanced devices.
