Financial strategy
Wagga Wagga City Council is committed to operating in a financially sustainable framework, to ensure that its community and other stakeholders can rely upon the ongoing provision of a full and diverse range of high-quality community services, facilities and infrastructure. Council plans to maintain its financial position and performance, to ensure resilience and a capacity to adapt and respond to arising community needs in a measured and equitable manner.
The six key principles employed in Council’s financial planning process are: • Financial Sustainability · Balanced Budgets · Maintain Unrestricted Cash and Investments
• Prudent financial investment
• Effective utilisation of funding sources to fund capital works • Maintain tight control over expenditure and staff numbers, while still maintaining best value services, facilities and infrastructure • Maintain/move towards above benchmark results against key performance indicators • Narrow the Infrastructure Funding Gap
