WHO WE ARE The Riverside Community Health Foundation (RCHF) is the lead agency of the Riverside Community Diabetes Collaborative (RCDC). RCDC is a group of over 40 diabetes-focused organizations and businesses that work together to strengthen community programs and services for the prevention and management of diabetes in Riverside and surrounding areas.

RCDC is your local resource for diabetes and chronic disease prevention information, events and more.

DIABETES TIPS Let’s get back to the basics: What is Diabetes? Diabetes is a condition in which the body’s ability to produce or respond to the hormone insulin is impaired, resulting in elevated glucose (sugar) in the blood. There are different types of diabetes: Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational diabetes. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with diabetes, there are steps that you can take to properly manage your condition. Please join us for one of our FREE educational classes where we will give you the tools to understand and manage diabetes.

Our Diabetes Cooking Classes are led by a Registered Dietitian and focus on how to prepare healthy meals for someone with diabetes. We offer a Recipe of the Month card at each class so that you can build a cookbook throughout the year. Educational topics at each class include nutrition label reading, healthy substitutions, and portion control. Come learn the importance of food and nutrition in diabetes management and how to prepare a diabetes friendly recipe.

Did you know that diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in adults?

Keeping your eyes healthy is a crucial aspect of managing your diabetes and living a long, healthy life. Join us for a Mini-Series at a NEW LOCATION to learn how you and your healthcare team can protect the health of your eyes in and out of the doctor’s office. A nutritious dinner and health screenings will be provided for FREE!

The “Together We Can!” Mini-Series and Annual Seminar are quarterly events that discuss diabetes management tips from healthcare professionals.
