Welcome from Rivercrest Ranches We would like to welcome everybody to our 15th annual bull sale. Spring is a season that is much anticipated here at Rivercrest. The oncoming of new baby calves and the progression of last year’s calf crop to date. We are consistently striving toward genetic improvement which is an exciting and motivating challenge. Our breeding program focuses on calving ease and pounds, as the cow man sells pounds for a living. We also strive hard to keep the essential traits that make the Angus breed rise to the top, such as eye appeal, fleshing ability, phenotype, maternal traits and structure from the ground up. We feel our bulls carry these traits along with the performance and do it in an efficient manner. We are pleased with the bulls we have to offer this year. Good strong cow bulls along with an abundance of sure fire heifer bulls. We don’t creep our calves nor do we swath graze before weaning. The cow and grass is the only source of nutrients our calves receive before weaning time and were weaned on September 22nd this year. DLMS will be broadcasting live for online bidding again this year. We will have videos of all the bulls on the DLMS website sale day as well as available on the Spady Bull Sale You Tube Channel. Plus there’s photos available of all our bulls on our Rivercrest Angus website with links to the videos. It is an honor and privelege to serve all our repeat buyers and to meet and provide for new customers. Welcome from Valleymere TTT Ranches Hello and welcome to our 15th annual Bull sale. Another year has flown by along with the heartache and happiness that comes along with it. Hope all is well with everyone and here’s hoping for an early spring. Groundhog Day was cloudy! We have on offer our strongest and most diverse pen of bulls ever. Be it big, powerful performance bulls, calving ease performance bulls, straight heifer bulls or moderate framed supereasy fleshing bulls, we have a bull for the most discriminating outfit. The bulls were weaned September 17 and then weighed again January 8. We have included this weight and the on-feed rate of gain for each bull. We have also included the dam’s age and her weight taken September 17. The cows were weighed full but it does give you a comparison. I am a believer in pounds of beef per quarter section of land. That path began when I was 16 yrs old sitting on a straw bale at the Calgary Bull Sale visiting with Vern Puzey and Don Atkinson, two prominent Angus breeders at that time. They were the ones to point out to me that lbs/acre or lbs/farm was the answer and that lbs/cow was the variable. Here at Valleymere we strive to balance the performance and efficiency of our cows. More pounds of calf per cow does equal more lbs/quarter as long as the cows stay efficient. We don’t have any big horsy cows, we do have some heavy cows. Width x Depth x Length does equal Weight. In our range conditions, cows need capacity to eat enough lowquality pasture or feed to convert it to beef. At our branding in May, some of our long-time bull customers come to help. Maurice Wiart started buying bulls from Dad in the 70’s and has bought more bulls from me than any other customer. His brother Leo has been using Spady bulls for at least 10 years. Wade Meyers switched from white bulls about 15 years ago and Lloyd and Keith Erion converted about the same time. Aron James has been with us a long time as well. They see all the cows, all the calves and they keep coming back and buying bulls. I think that means they like what they are seeing. I am proud of that. He is moderate in height, but long, deep and thick and standing on a perfect foot. He moves like a cat and has that herd bull presence that always catches your eye. He is one of the few calving ease sons off of breed legend SAV Resource whose sons and daughters are some of the most sought after in the entire breed. Revenue sons are long, thick, moderate-framed, easy-doing calves with tremendous capacity. They should be excellent choices for the heifer pen as well as the grass-fed beef program. His daughters could be his greatest legacy. Revenue is by far the easiestkeeping bull ever used here and his sons and daughters are proving the same. He saw service on over 40 head in 2017 and on January 28 after wintering on a total roughage diet of silage, hay and straw he tipped the scales at 2250 lbs. We are very excited about this great young sire and the impact he will have on our breeding program.

Welcome from Valleymere BPPS/HPS Ranches Welcome from the Valleymere BPPS/HPS family. Our philosophy on raising cattle is the same as always. Producing low maintenance, consistent, easy calving cattle with maximum performance. I’m not really much of a farmer therefore I can’t say that we overfeed anything. We are trying to develop these bulls to be consistent breeding bulls that travel well, settle a lot of cows and produce the breeder a uniform pen of calves for many breeding seasons. The bulls will be video’d by DLMS and will be available to view on their website by the beginning of March.
