Flora Biggs paintings are vibrant and expressive. Her art hangs in the New Braunfels Art League Gallery, New Braunfels, Texas and the River Art Gallery in San Antonio. Flora has studied acrylic, watercolor, drawing and pastel under notable artists including Joan Baker, Mary Jo Harding, Angie Banta Brown, Carrie Lee Albritton, Lee Ricks, Karen McCauley, Tom Lynch, Virginia Carruth, Myra Knapp, Steven Napper, Kathleen Cook and others.
I love the beauty in nature and flowers and have a special place in my heart for animals.

Meet the
Marleen Hoover
San Antonio artist Marleen Hoover works with Berol Prismacolor pencils, acrylic paint, and grease markers. Layering the medium, she achieves an abstracted illusion of depth creating unexpected lights and darks against drawings of the San Antonio missions. Hoover’s subject matter, in addition to the local missions, includes cactus, wildflowers and often takes abstracted turns. Images are sometimes based on ancient petraglyphs, angels, and mythology. Marleen is not only an artist but a lecturer on art and retired teacher from San Antonio College where she was granted the title Professor Emeritus upon 20 years of teaching. In 2018 she opened Blue Line Gallery, the name referring to the elevated train that from where she lived to the Art Institute of Chicago—where she grew up and first studied art. Marleen Hoover holds Masters Degree in Social Theories of Art, graduate work in drawing and printmaking at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, graduate work in architectural history at UTSA and in Art Education at Texas Tech. She has taught art at a private high school in Connecticut and at the University of New Haven.

Bobbye Porter
Bobbye Porter specializes in watercolors, from San Antonio Riverwalk scenes to florals...front-porch Americana to authentic, gorgeous fishing flies...majestic mountains to Texas seashore. Originally trained in oils by the late George Pinca, Bobbye gravitated to watercolor under the watchful eye of Finis Collins, developing her own style and tastes over the years. A life member of the River Art Group and its former president, Bobbye also holds membership in several other art groups and conducts informal classes and demonstrations in watercolor. Her works are part of collections throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Frequent trips throughout New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming produce fresh new scenes and ideas, blending with an early youth of fly fishing journeys and the development of both traditional and specialized fishing flies with her late father, whose own fly-tying prowess is exemplified in many of Bobbye’s watercolors.

Meet the
Katie Loughman
Broken to Beautiful Glass Tempered glass is often discarded in landfills, and not recycled. Seeing this waste, and having a love of working with glass, Katie collects discarded, old windows in San Antonio to create her fused glass art. Katie Loughman was raised in San Francisco but, later moved to Princeton, NJ where she received her Master of Arts in Education. In 2010, she moved to San Antonio after having lived all over the country. Many of these places inspire her work today. Much of her glass is inspired by the Alaskan ice, or the ebb of the Monterey Bay. The large chunks found often in her work are reminiscent of the hunks of glaciers often found floating in the chilly Arctic waters. Other pieces resemble that of the tidal motion of the bays and rivers she grew up near. Colors also inspired by the environments Katie has lived in. Her artwork often features sea greens and dark blues, paired with warm purples. In contrast, her popular glass hearts are almost always dyed in warm hues of reds and golds, perhaps in reflection of what she feels inside rather than out.

Cathy Geib
Creativity has always been a passion for me! My life has evolved from being an Air Force “brat” to a teacher of the hearing impaired to a present day artist and enjoying every minute. Creating art makes me happy! After retiring from teaching, I was able to follow my artistic passion and took a pastel class. I was hooked! I love the pure pigment and vibrancy. From there, I have been drawn to acrylics and encaustics. Moreover, my love for animals has led me to painting animals and pet portraits. I am also inspired by the beautiful Texas Hill Country, where I reside, and my home away from home, in North Captiva Island, Florida, with the beautiful sunsets, wildlife and ocean views. My art is shown at River Art Gallery in La Villita San Antonio, North Captiva Island’s Barnacle Phil’s, Boerne Professional Artists, Texas Pastel Society Shows, as well as local shows and venues.

Meet the
Cindy Morawski
Award-winning San Antonio artist, Cindy Morawski, paints the subjects of landscapes, birds, and animals with pastels. A charter member and current President of the Texas Pastel Society, she has created art since childhood. Cindy also enjoys painting plein air landscapes outdoors with the Texas Pastel Society. Teaching and painting are two of her favorite things. An outdoor enthusiast, she tries to capture the light and colors of her subjects in nature within her compositions. Cindy’s paintings can be found in four art galleries as well as in commercial and public spaces in downtown San Antonio. Her public work has also been exhibited at the Alamo’s Emily Morgan Hotel, Hotel Valencia on downtown’s Riverwalk, Arthritis Associates in the Medical Area of San Antonio, and the Candlelight Coffeehouse and Wine Bar on N. St. Mary’s Street in San Antonio. A recent addition has been the Mitchell Lake Audubon Center with her ArtBird Series.

Meet the
Richard Kramer
Richard A. Kramer, a native of the San Antonio area, is a self-taught artist and photographer. His wildflower photography brings the viewer nose to nose with the intricate details and dazzling colors of the wildflowers of Texas. Richard specializes in commissioned portraits and figurative work and his medium of choice is pastel, with some works in oil. His interest in art began as a hobby in childhood and continued through early adulthood. For almost 25 years, art became an unrequited yearning placed on the “back burner” because of other more pressing pursuits. His passion for portraiture was born in 1999 when Richard began to recognize his abilities as a portrait artist. His first portraits were done for family and coworkers. More recently, his commissioned work has attracted a wider audience. In recent years his paintings have been juried into shows sponsored by New Braunfels Art League, San Antonio Art League Museum, Regional Artist Consortium exhibits at the San Antonio International Airport, and University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Richard’s landscape paintings include a series of sunrises on the Gulf of Mexico at Port Aransas and scenes from Lost Maples State Natural Area.
