NSAC – Who we are NSAC Events

Nordic Study Abroad Community (NSAC) is a non-profit international student community for talented and ambitious Nordic students interested in studies abroad. Throughout the year, NSAC organises events with the goal of inspiring and helping Nordic students go abroad as well as creating a tightly-knit student network spanning the Nordics. NSAC events include the renowned annual NSAC Conference as well as NSAC Workshops and a variety of social events.

Throughout the year, NSAC organises events targeted ambitious Nordic students: NSAC Conference – annual conference in September for the most talented Nordic students and the world’s best universities NSAC Workshops – bimonthly workshops with practical information on specific topics, such as scholarship and university applications NSAC Socials – social events uniting like-minded students in a casual setting.

The organisation is driven entirely by a group of tremendously hardworking and passionate students, whose motivation sparks from their own ambition to study at the best universities in the world as well as from their desire to help other like-minded Nordic students.

NSAC is politically neutral and all revenues are strictly reserved for NSAC purposes. This also means that none of the students working on the NSAC Team receive any remuneration. Nevertheless, all team members gladly commit to the NSAC mission of helping and inspiring fellow Nordic students to pursue education at the best universities abroad, as we are confident this will foster talented Nordic millennials, who are international and diverse citizens of a globalised world.

The Conference The NSAC Conference is an all-day event that unites 250 of the best Nordic students handpicked through a rigorous application process with top universities and international, high-achieving professionals and leaders. The conference is held annually and in 2017 it will be held on September 23rd at PwC in Copenhagen.

Furthermore, the conference includes unique panel discussions that make for a dynamic addition to the program. Between these presentations and panels, motivational speakers share their personal stories e.g. on how they funded their world-class education or how studying abroad changed their lives. Throughout the conference there will be networking sessions which provide the participating students with the unique opportunity to interact directly with speakers, university representatives as well as specially invited student experts, and ask any question they may have. Towards the end of the day, all participants at the conference are invited to continue networking and enjoying themselves at the casual afterparty.

The program of the conference consists of various elements, each specifically designed to make for a well-balanced, exciting and informational experience for our participants. First and foremost are the university presentations, where representatives from the world’s finest educational institutions address the driving questions behind NSAC Conference: Why and where should you study abroad? and How do you get to study abroad?

Participating students The participants at the NSAC Conference both high school and university students, meaning that the age of the participants range from 16 to 25 years. While these students come from diverse academic and geographical background, they all have one thing in common: All participating students are ambitious and top-performers when compared to their peers.

In order to select the best students, applicants for the conference are required to submit motivational essays, resumes and academic transcripts and upon that basis, 250 of the best students are invited to the conference where they will meet the world’s best universities.

In 2016, 93% of attending students felt more equipped to apply to foreign universities and 98% would recommend NSAC Conference to a friend.

The thorough application process ensures that all attending student are like-minded, well-qualified and show crystal clear motivation to study abroad. In 2016, the average GPA across the attending students exceeded 10.5 out of 12 when converted to the Danish grading system. Through the hard work of the students and with the help of NSAC, previous participants have proceeded to receive offers from Cambridge, MIT, Yale, NYU, UPenn, UCL, and UC Berkeley - just to name a few!
