2nd day – VISITING TÜRI
OUR STAY IN TALLINN
We had to get up very early that day because we had a trip planned and a meeting was at 8 o'clock nearby our hosts' school. We were travelling by coach about 1,5 hour. Our first destination was Broadcasting Museum. We saw there plenty of old radio and TV sets. The most interesting one was a water TV. The water was poured into a special glass which was used as a lens to make the image bigger and more clear. The whole visit was in the Estonian language but our project mate was translating guide's
1st day – THE DAY OF OUR ARRIVAL When we arrived at the airport our hosts were waiting for us, and as soon as we met them we had to go to their houses. We were pretty tired so they gave us some time to put our feet up. In the meantime, we got to know the members of our host's family. They seemed to be very nice and helpful. After that, we handed them in the gifts
speeches into English. Everybody was impressed by his knowledge of the English language.
(Polish sweets mostly). After 1 hour and so, our hosts suggested us going out to the cinema. Tallinn is the capital city of Estonia so it didn’t sound awkward when they told us that they had about 5 cinemas there. We all decided to see "She's out of my league" film. It's USA production and the subtitles were in the Estonian language but we did understand the main plot of the film. The film finished in the evening but it wasn't the end of our day. We were playing pool with all Comenius' participants. It was great opportunity to know them all better. When we were coming back, we caught first glimpse of Tallinn. It was very tiring day, however we had a really great fun.
The most exciting part of sightseeing the museum was a radio drama recorded by almost everybody from Comenius team. Everyone had its own part to read during the show. We also 3
Hydepark had to make some sound effects. It was awesome experience.
After having dinner the students went to the large Tallinn's beach to admire the sea. It was pretty
Having finished our radio programme, we went on to see a beautiful elementary school which looked almost like a palace – Laupa Manor. The manor house has been used as a school since 1927. It was the first part of this day. In the
cold with temperature of 13 degrees but despite it our Estonian friends jumped into the water few times. We were impressed because we had jackets, jumpers on etc. We took a great number of photos there.
afternoon we went by coach to a place called Samliku to do canoeing. We didn’t have enough guts to take part in this exciting activity. Only our IT teacher decided to represent the Polish Comenius team. Instead of being wet we had an opportunity to take a walk around the beautiful forest and we weren't as bitten by mosquitoes as "caoeists" were. After some time our teacher Ł.Jurkiewicz reached the bank of the river first.
3rd day – KURISTIKU GYMNASIUM it was the day when we visited Kuristiku Gymnasium. We took part in some lessons there: IT, Russian and economics lesson. We also made friends with the students of Kuristiku Gymnasium. We also had a great opportunity to know the Estonian traditional dance. Especially Martyna, Eva and Jorge took part in the lesson actively. Finally, after school we had some free time to go shopping. During 3 hours we were buying 4
Hydepark The first classes which we participated in were IT. We were also curious how the lessons of any foreign language are conducted; therefore we visited the Russian classes. It was quite
souvenirs, clothes, jewellery etc. Tallinn has many shopping centers, for example VIRU. In the evening we all went to the Megazone Club, where everybody had their own pizza to eat. Next, we were divided into 4 teams. We were playing a kind of paintball but instead of paint we had a laser. Our mission was to exterminate as many "enemies" from another team as we could. We were laughing all the time. All of us had their own nick-names, such as: X-MAN, RAMBO, BRITNEY SPEARS and so on. It didn’t matter which team- blue or yellow- won, we had too great fun to think about it.
awesome experience. Because of similarities between Russian and Polish, we were able to understand the teacher well. What was surprising, too the Russian teacher could understand us either.
4th day – COMING BACK HOME We didn't have much time because at 12:15 we had to be present at the airport. At 10 o'clock we had a meeting in the Old Town. All Comenius group was divided into teams. We had a map with 22 destinations and a crossword with 22 passwords. Each place was a clue to the password. We got excited but we had to come back home to pack ourselves up.
VISIT TO KURISTIKU GYMNASIUM During our stay in Estonia we were invited to take part in some classes in Kuristiku Gymnasium. We had an opportunity to be the part of our hosts’ class society. It was amazing because we could learn how the school and lessons looked like. 5
Hydepark After some time passed by, we went to a huge room with the mirrors on the walls. We discovered soon that we were going to learn a traditional Estonian dance. I was selected as a representative of the Polish team. My dance mate explained me how to move. I enjoyed dancing a lot! Just before our economics classes, we were invited to the school canteen to have lunch. W
exhausted. However, we spent it in a very nice company. When at the airport, we were to wait for the check-in. it was quite exciting and thorough at the same time. At 11.00 we took off to Tallinn. The flight lasted about 1h 30. Unfortunately, Tallinn welcomed us with rain; however, we had a very warm welcome from our host families who were waiting for us at the exit. We knew that those 5 days would be an unforgettable experience for us. Having met our Estonian friends we went to our hosts’ places.
spent some time in a café, too, waiting for our hosts. We didn’t have any time to get bored because we were busy with playing cards with our new Estonian friends, talking, laughing and learning the Estonian language. The visit to Kurisitku Gymnasium was a great experience
Our stay in Estonia was in no time. On Thursday at 12.30 we were supposed to meet at the airport. We thanked our new friends for their hospitality and said goodbye to Tallinn. Being on the verge of tears, we went to the check-in. Our journey back home was pleasant, as usual. The flight lasted only 1.30. At the airport in Warsaw we met our bus driver and set off to Jaworzno.
OUR JOURNEY TO AND FROM We left Jaworzno at the crack of dawn – at 4.00 am. After 5-hour-long journey we were 6
Thank You! There are things we didn’t want to happen but have to experience. Things that we didn’t want to know but have learnt. People who we owe so much and we can’t live without… … but have to let go Dear friends, As the Polish Comenius team and the editors of our joint project newspaper as well, we would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to you, our friends. There is no doubt that we have learnt a great deal from each other and all of us, the students and the teachers, have enjoyed working on the project. Thank you for all your invaluable efforts for these 2 years and the best of luck in your future endeavours. Why is the word GOODBYE so easily pronounced, but seem so difficult to say? GOODBYE! Hope we meet again soon.
