INTRO Launched in 2022, Risogram has customized our services to meet the needs for creatives. Located in Thousand Oaks, California, we are happy to offer a unique printing service.

Risograph is unique in that while it possesses characteristics of both screen printing and a modern printer, its results cannot be described as either. It is used to print effectively at a high volume and typically can be found in schools, hospitals, churches, and campaigns for political parties. A Riso machine is environmentally friendly due to the ink it uses and the low energy consumption needed. Creatives have adopted Risograph machines because of its limitations, resulting in a distinctly unique print that is tactile and vibrant in color.

HOW IT WORKS Our machine, the RISO SF5450, is equipped to print one color at a time. The Riso internally creates a stencil made from plant fibers. The stencil is wrapped around a cylinder (also known as a drum) which is coated with ink. The paper gets fed through the printer as the drum spins and creates an impression. Each color is layered on separately and requires the paper to be fed through the Riso with each additional color.

If your art can fit in an 11” by 17” sheet of paper, it can be printed.

IMPERFECTIONS Risography suits graphic art such as vector-based work, typography, and illustration. Using CMYK separation, painting and photography can also be printed.

If your art can fit in an 11” by 17” sheet of paper, it can be printed.

Smudging Riso prints never fully dry and it is possible to smudge the ink.

Ink Coverage Ink might vary on large areas of solid ink, some areas will be slightly lighter and others, heavier.

Registration Paper passes through our machine several times so misalignment may occur between colors.

Tire Marks The paper feeder roller may leave tire marks due to heavily inked paper being fed into our machine multiple times. The feeder runs along a 2� path down the center of the paper. Light marks are common and can be erased with a simple rubber eraser.
