HELLO 2023! I WANTED TO PUT TWO EDITIONS IN ONE, JANUARY & FEBRUARY.
I ALWAYS FIND JANUARY A WEIRD MONTH. I DONT GOAL SET, I DONT OVERTHINK IT IT IS SYMBOLIC OF A NEW YEAR FOR SURE, BUT WHEN I THINK TOO MUCH INTO IT, IT BECOMES FEBRUARY AND I HAVE SLACKED ON THE GOALS I HAVE SET MYSELF.
THIS IS WHY, I NOW ALLOW JANUARY TO BE MY MONTH OF FLOWING. I ALLOW MYSELF TO NOTICE WHAT COMES UP FOR ME AS I STEP AND ACCEPT A NEW YEAR, BECAUSE ULTIMATELY, THATS WHAT IT IS, ANOTHER MONTH, A NEW YEAR.
BUT WHAT I SEE TOO OFTEN IS PEOPLE PUTTING PRESSURE ON OURSELVES TO QUICKLY GOAL SET, AND THEN WE ARE HUMAN AND IF WE DON'T FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE HUNDRED GOALS WE SET OURSELF WE SAY 'OH WELL ALWAYS NEXT YEAR'; GOAL SETTING ANY MONTH (YOU ARE LIKELY READING THIS IN MARCH!) ALLOWS US TO FEEL INTO WHAT WE ACTUALLY WANT, NOT FROM THE FEELING OF PRESSURE, AND THATS EXACTLY WHAT IVE BEEN DOING THIS PAST TWO MONTHS
NEW YEARS ARE ALWAYS CHALLENGING AND A LITTLE BIT UNSETTLING, WHETHER GOOD CHALLENING OR BAD, BY MARCH WE CAN ESTABLISH IF THIS IS HOW WE WANT THE REST OF THE YEAR TO LOOK LIKE? IF IT ISN'T... WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT? IT ISN'T TOO LATE.
DESPITE MOROCCO’S GLOBAL REPUTATION AS A LUXURY TOURISM DESTINATION, IT STILL HOLDS AN AIR OF MYSTERY. SO, WHEN I FIRST BOOKED A TRIP TO THIS ENIGMATIC LOCALE THIS PAST MAY, IN ALL HONESTY, I WASN’T QUITE SURE WHAT TO EXPECT.
REVIEWS ON ALL THE MAJOR TRAVEL SITES HAD SUCH CONTRADICTING OPINIONS AND EXPERIENCES. HOWEVER, FROM THE MOMENT I STEPPED INTO THE MEDINA OF MARRAKECH, I UNDERSTOOD WHY IT WAS SO INEXPLICABLE
IT’S A COUNTRY WHERE I SAW YIN AND YANG IN EFFECT RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. IT’S CHAOTIC AND CALM SIMULTANEOUSLY. IT’S ARID YET LUSH IN EVERY CORNER AND IT’S DEEPLY ROOTED IN HISTORY YET MODERN IN TERMS OF CULTURE AND DEVELOPMENT. IN EVERY CITY YOU VISIT, YOU’LL EXPLORE COLORFUL CORNERS DECORATED WITH VIBRANT BERBER RUGS AND ELABORATE TILE-ADORNED EDIFICES WHILE THE FRAGRANCE OF FRESH SPICE SHOPS DELIGHT YOUR SENSES. BUT, THERE ARE FIVE EXPERIENCES I THINK TO TOP THE REST WHEN IT COMES TO FULLY EXPERIENCING THIS MAJESTIC COUNTRY…
The souks, otherwise known as the markets, are the best place for shopping. From handmade leather sandals to fresh Argan products, you’ll find it all. The key, though, is to put your bartering hat on and get ready to walk past vendors trying to capture your attention. When you find something you like, start with an offer half of the price they quote and go up from there until you reach a deal! Having a guide for this, that knows where to shop for what, will also help.
Depending on your itinerary, you can visit the Afghay Desert, closer to Marrakech, or the Sahara. If you’ve never been off the grid in a place where luxury tents are the only infrastructure, you’ve likely never seen stars quite like glamping in the desert. Upon nightfall, the stars become glitter, sparkling above the muted dunes, begging to be admired. Especially with no sounds but the soft wind lulling you into the most blissful existence, I’ve never quite felt as at peace as I did in the Moroccan desert at night.
Now, bartering takes energy!
When you need a break, simply find a quiet corner where the sun is warmly shining through the thatched roofs above. Bonus if you can grab a mint tea while you rest!
We left with the most beautiful Berber rug we purchased at a collective of women weavers in one of the souks and were even able to try our hand at making our own rug! Another art form they don’t tell you about is how they wrap the rugs up so you can actually check them like a checked bag on the airline! Even if you don’t buy anything, it’s fun to explore and gives you a peek into local culture.
Moroccan cuisine is simple, yet the most flavorful I’ve ever tasted due to all the fresh spices! Sip on mint tea, nibble on all the fresh dips like Zalouk with bread fresh out of the oven, and see if you can tell the difference between tagine and tangia by the end of your adventure.
You can experience staying in a beautiful Riad on Rise Girls Trip
A principle of Moroccan culture is not to be too flashy and ensure everyone is treated equally. So, those Moroccan citizens who had the money for these elaborate homes actually built them behind the solid, plain walls of the medina so each dwelling looks the same from the outside.
Riads are small guesthouses that are the most picturesque places you’ll ever set your eyes on… even if you don’t realize it on the street.
For that reason, when you walk past the heavy wooden doors to the riad entrance, the breathtaking scene is often not what you expected. The dusty, orange medina streets are instantly replaced with lush plant life, glistening pools, and gorgeous courtyards perfect for sipping on mint tea.
between the two cities. While you should definitely stay in one, most have restaurants on-site. So, eat at a few different ones so you can explore the styles!
Popular in both Marrakech and Fes, there are hundreds, if not thousands,
While I have been to a spa or two in my day (…okay, I may be known to pamper myself with multiple treatments on every vacation), there was something soulful about the spa experiences in Morocco. Morocco is known for their hammams or bathhouses. Typically, these sanctuaries offer different-temperature pools where you can soak and relax with zen lighting while the flowing water serenades you.
Put your phone away, disconnect from the world to reconnect with yourself, and end your hammam experience with a tailoredto-you massage. You can find these in every city (except maybe the desert)! These are just a handful of the countless captivating experiences you’ll have if you indulge in a trip to this otherworldly African nation. Majestic Morocco awaits!

A curated, luxury girls trip inclusive of 3 nights in a traditional Riad (see images), and one night under the stars in the Agafay Desert.
Rise Girls trips are about curating a personal travel itinerary, but attending as a group of like-minded women.
Growing up, and into my teen years especially, I always wanted a 'group' to go away with, and I know others felt this lack too.
That's why I now create trips and experiences so we can share that sisterhood magic, whilst seeing the world and all it's adventure and beauty.
See itinerary example...

Tel-Aviv is a city described as 'contradicting', displaying a little of bit of every other city we love and know, but for different reasons You could say, renewel is in the air... constantly. There is always new things happening, and always something happening
People describe it as as the captivating city, you never want to leave. Famous for it's cuisine, golden, shimmering beaches and famous nightlife, it is a care-free haven, anyone can enjoy.
Boasting 300 sunny days a year, it is no surprise this city attracts people from everywhere, chasing sunshine and wonderful sunsets
Although areas like Jaffa, can be dated back thousands of years, the city itself is young and modern, founded in 1909, and distributed between 66 gathering familes via a 'lottery style' system.
When choosing your accommodation for this unique city break, although it is known as one of the most expensive cities in the world, there are many options.
Starting with boutique hotels, Brown Beach is not only within a 1 minute walking distance from Tel Aviv's beach on Ha'yarkon Street, but it is home to a Kosher cafe, and a popular 'Flamingo' Bar.
If you hear the name 'Setai', you know you re stepping into ultra luxury
This particular one is set in a old prison, located at the crossroads of modern and ancient Tel-Aviv-Jaffa.
A Marriot Convoy partner, this luxury collection hotel is a five star property, centrally located to local boutiques, the port of Jaffa and Shuk Hapishpeshim flea market.
Marriot describes it as a perfect blend of service, style, and modern luxury. An urban resort in the city’s trendiest neighborhood, just minutes from the beach. It's 120 personalised rooms range from Classic rooms to Executive pool side apartments, expecting to pay a range, from $568 upwards.
As described on their website...
The Jaffa, a Luxury Collection Hotel"The Mayer House Hotel was born out of the dream of people who live in Tel Aviv on a daily basis, local entrepreneurs who want to give the authentic experience of the heart of the city in full."The Jaffa
Already mentioned, Tel-Aviv seems the hot spot for everything 'cool'...
I asked locals the restaurants I cannot miss out on.
Claro - A farm-to-table restaurant featuring an open kitchen.
Popina - 2011 San Pellegrino’s Best
Chef Under 30 winner, Chef Orel Kimchi, presents artistic masterpieces with his delicious seafood and incredible attention to detail.
Anastasia Cafe - a vegan restaurant and one of the best.
HaKosem - a unique place where you will be confused yet still admire the seating arrangement. Imagine you ' re on the street, except, you are not You must try the Sabich
OCD TLV - Serving a ' menu experience', another open kitchen with seating around the bar allows you to witness the creation of your unique tasting menu.
Miznon -Known for redefining the pita, they offer just about anything you could fit inside. Chicken liver, steak...
There is something so special about Europe in the summer season. The cheap flights, the road-trips, the railway travel... the vineyard destinations, drinking rose in the south of France, driving along the amalfi coast in a fiat 500... yes I am picturing a stereotypical summer here. But doesn't it sound amazing?! This year, I am spending April - September travelling around Europe, with the occasional flight back to England. I couldn't be more excited.
To me, when I think of Europe, I think of 3 euro wine. I think of romance. I think of pasta. I think of island hopping, and I think of boutique shopping, crystal blue oceans and the option to be in another country in minutes. Ah, Europe.
Below I highlight the areas I am travelling to, in hope to inspire your own.
I have dreamed of doing a French Vineyard tour for years, ever since I discovered how beautiful Petit Chablis was, andthat there is... in fact, a town named Chablis in France where I can drink a copious amount of it. Yay.
Other destinations I will make sure I go to on this tour are... Bordeaux, Provence, Baritz & Champagne, but don't worry, I will document & share everything.
Is wine a common theme in Europe? Well.. it is incredible. ESPECIALLY in Tuscany, where vineyards stretch for miles and miles. It is also home to the luxury Castello di Casole, A Belmond Hotel, Florence however, is full of romance... and birthplace of renaissance, sitting in the region of glorious Tuscany. Think, Romaeo + Juliet, Michaelangeo, and love.
A hidden gem of the country, Bodrums coastline is beautiful as well as full of boutique hotels, cute markets and high-end resorts.
Bodrum is described as “the Land of the Eternal Blue”. It's also the location of our next girl trip FYI!
Taking a ferry from island to island is the way to navigate this adventure.
We are starting in Mykonos, and going to Santorini, the islands of Andros, Tinos, Milos, Ios, Syros, Paros and Naxos.
Last July, I accidentally spent 3 hours in this country. To explain the story, in short, our flight to Montenegro got cancelled (once we were already at the gate!) and the only way to get there for our 2 night stay (the commitment...) was to fly into Tirana, Albania and get a taxi to Montenegro. It was worth it, but it also made me want to go back for more, I didn't realise how beautiful it was.

When considering what the best beach club is, I looked at what makes an amazing beach club The vibe? The cuisine? Location? Decor? They all, when looked at as one, create a way to ask the question..., is this one of the best beach clubs around the world?
Some beach clubs, like Nikki Beach, are known for luxury, alongside a good time, aka, a party Bottles are served via several girls, accompanied by lots of noise, sparklers and transported to you via a bright yellow aero-plane. Just the thought is reminding me of my summer in Montenegro (an amazing Nikki Beach location, right on the water)
Others, however, focus more on a tranquil atmosphere. You may hear melodic house music playing, but overall the atmosphere is more chill, maybe even family
Although there are many beach clubs on this luxurious, popular and beautiful island (not to mention... windy!), Scorpios personally out-scores. It's sunset dj sessions, incredible cuisine and just generally immaculate, boho vibes put it on a pedistol for a reason.
What stands out to me about this unique beach club is the diversity of activities they offer. From Dj sets to yoga mornings, Potato head is known as an almost "small resort area".
You can even stay here in the suites and studios.
One of the more 'relaxed' beach clubs, it is located in the beautiful One & Only resort.
With more of a luxury restaurant vibe, yet also hosting sunset dj sessions I want to transport myself there right now.

Ever since I was a child, I knew I wanted a 'job' that allowed me to travel At first, this was an actress, travelling all over, performing to the masses, maybe even staring in a film Then it moved to journalism, I wanted to be a free-lance travel journalist, paid to fly around first class and stay in 5 star hotels I wasn't actually sure what the role of a 'free-lance' travel journalist was but I heard someone at works aunts sister was one, and it sounded exhilarating
Plus, it was a job, where I got paid to travel, and allowed me to write creatively The ultimate goal
Looking back on how my life has actually played out for me, it isn't far from that
I am currently sat in Panama Toucan Airport, fruitbowl to the left, Coca-Cola Zero to the right I am writing this, and have just confirmed all the details for the Morocco trip coming up Earlier, I was contacting my amazing team to discuss how to make our travel agency experience even more unique I am working remotely
I have done it I am making my dreams a reality and working from anywhere I wish to in the world I could scream with gratitude (often I do)
So, I have done it But after travelling often in the last 4 years, and especially in the last 3 months as I 'back-packed' around Central and South America with my laptop I have also met many incredible people doing the same
Remote work is the practice of employees doing their jobs from a location other than a central office operated by the employer
You may work for yourself, you may be a free-lancer, you may have realised postpandemic you can work your career anywhere and continue to do so, or you may have started the job and it was already remote
Research also shows people who work remotely seem happier, more productive and have a higher-income than those who do not
Working remotely, may also mean even if your income is not higher, you are able to save more money because you are choosing where to base yourself For example, you may decide Thailand to be your base, known for cheaper yet beautiful accommodation compared to for example, Miami, London, Barcelona
Remote work is also available in all sorts of industries, unless you physically have to be in-person to perform your role to the best of your ability - such as being a career or doctor - you likely can take it remote!
Remote roles can include :
Most customer service roles just require you to be able to either speak on the phone, on emails or both, rherefore most companies could offer you this as remote work!
Translation Jobs
Graphic Designer/Web Development
As long as you have a computer!
Write content for coaches, magazines, people requiring email marketing list content, the list is endless for what you may need a copy-writer for even instagram captions!
You could register with an online language school such as TEFL
Software Engineer
Literally you could practice any skill, from making short YouTube intro's for people to content creation, to basic admin tasks for companies or other remote workers! You can promote this skill on websites such as 'Fiver' or 'Upwork'
Many companies require someone to take over the time consuming role that is social media marketing You can content create, engage, answer DM's, and generally help with the growth of their company/profile
Also remember, any business that can be performed online means you can remote work If you have started your own business, where that is a blog, a travel agency, a social media marketing agency, an online event planning company etc, you can do this online! So these are definitely not limited options
Some things to consider when looking into remote work include considering time-zones, does the location you are choosing support the work you are doing, re meetings, and being available to clients? Also when looking at new remote work, you can reverse this question does it support the areas you want to travel to?
For me personally, I found it really challenging being disciplined with work whilst I travel I would connect with new people in new locations that were passing through for a few days at a time, and so experienced FOMO not going out with them and so on
Especially moving from place to place quite fast (something I am really slowing down this year), and as well as my job not requiring daily meeting times, I found it hard to have a structure and routine! Arriving in a new place is exciting, you want to explore, you want to go out with new friends, but also, you have to make sure you're continuing to build your dreams
A few tips I have found really useful include working in the mornings on my nonnegotiables, the things that have deadlines, that require immediate action
Everyone is often sleeping in the mornings, or working too, so it is a perfect time to get what I need to get done, and then enjoy whatever the day holds Sometimes of course I will need to continue working, but often by getting up and getting things done first-thing, I am working more productively in a shorter time
Of course if your role requires specific meeting times, it is about finding a suitable area to do these from Many areas brimming with 'digital nomads' have coworking spaces where you can book private rooms for calls, and hire desks
To highlight, Selina is an incredible chain for these and you can book co-working spaces without being a guest (they're cheaper if you book by the week or month)
Likewise, as mentioned in this edition, there are other airbnb's, villas and alike that cater towards co-working!
Other tips include : PAGE 23
Communicate expectations if you are living with others - it is important they're aware of when to not bother you, interupt you, or when they're not respecting boundaries Environment is so important and especially when looking ahead into accommodation/living space For example, a party hostel in Thailand may not be the best place to host a Zoom meeting!
Pretend you are actually going into an office, even via how you dress Now, some may have mixed opinions on this, but I am not saying where a suit to your co-working space in Costa Rica, but where something that feels comfortable and most importantly makes you feel good When we feel good about ourself (and this is often reflected in our outfit choice), we are more productive and happier throughout the day!
of my remote locations.
I can't explain the effects this book had on me. However, evidently not just me, this book has exploded all over #booktok or whatever it is?! I think it is the sudden surprise, the unexpected events, the characters you want to hate but can't.
You will have to experience it for yourself.
Another sensation on 'booktok', this historical fiction novel tells the tale of an aging Hollywood icon, Evelyn.
Her dramatic and scandlous life is told to an unknown journalist and poses the questions of why is she revealing all now?
Forbidden love, unexpected friendships and life in Los Angeles in the 1950's, it is described as 'tinseltown' drama at it's finest.
