Sept. 5 CHAMBER MUSIC & JAZZ AT RIPON SERIES: LYNN POST NORTHROP MEMORIAL CONCERT

7:30 p.m.

Demmer Recital Hall, Rodman Center This is the first annual presentation of this concert to honor Northrop, who died in April 2014. She was the wife of Douglas Northrop, Helen Swift Neilson Professor of Cultural Studies Emeritus. No charge. Tickets required.

Sept. 12 to Oct. 5 FABLES & APPARITIONS: PAINTINGS BY GINA LITHERLAND Caestecker Gallery, Rodman Center Litherland combines elements of the natural world, fairytale and myth into her precious, minutely-wrought paintings. Artist’s talk 7 p.m.

Oct. 1 to 4 DAVID AUBURN’S “PROOF” 7:30 p.m.

Benstead Theatre, Rodman Center This play won a Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award for best play. Smart and compassionate, it combines mystery and surprise with old-fashioned story telling. No charge. Reservations recommended.

Oct. 5 CAESTECKER FINE ARTS SERIES: MILWAUKEE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA 3:15 p.m.

Wyman Gym, Storzer Athletic Center Wisconsin’s largest cultural organization returns to Ripon College for its 42nd appearance on campus. Admission to this year’s performance is free as a thank you to the community. No tickets needed.

Special reserved seating for Friends of the Arts members. A Friends reception follows in the Rodman Center lobby.

Oct. 10 CHAMBER MUSIC & JAZZ AT RIPON SERIES: DOUGLAS DETRICK’S ANYWHEN ENSEMBLE 7:30 p.m., Demmer Recital Hall, Rodman Center This chamberjazz quintet performs bold new compositions that integrate chamber music conception with jazz spontaneity. Paid tickets required.

Nov. 7 to Dec. 7 CAESTECKER FINE ARTS SERIES: SHANA MCCAW AND BRENT BUDSBERG Caestecker Gallery, Rodman Center By dislocating archetypes of frontier history and narrative from their usual settings, the artists consider the ways we construct history in their performances, sculpture and photography.

Nov. 12 to 15 WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE’S “CYMBELINE” 7:30 p.m.

Nov. 14 CHAMBER MUSIC & JAZZ AT RIPON SERIES: DUOJALAL 7:30 p.m.

Demmer Recital Hall, Rodman Center The music of Kathryn Lockwood and Yousif Sheronick represents an organic amalgam of cultural traditions and musical styles. duoJalal moves from Classical to Klezmer, Middle Eastern to Jazz, with a skillful confluence that is natural, exploratory and passionate. Demmer Recital Hall, Rodman Center This Chicago-based brass trio is dedicated to expanding the boundaries of the brass trio repertoire, including new works, Georgian folk songs, music from the film “Alfie,” music of Astor Piazzolla and Erik Satie’s “Gymnopedie No. 1.” Paid tickets required.

Jan. 30 to March 13 TRINA MAY SMITH Caestecker Gallery, Rodman Center The artist creates poetic, melancholic paintings that reflect the decline of the American culture through its architecture and landscape. Feb. 13 CHAMBER MUSIC & JAZZ AT RIPON SERIES: JOHN HARMON, SOLO PIANO 7:30 p.m.

Demmer Recital Hall, Rodman Center Known as “Wisconsin’s Gentle Poet of Jazz,” Harmon is highly regarded for his sensitive nature, elegant voicings and delicate touch. He is a prolific composer whose works embrace a broad spectrum of performance ensembles.
