First held in September 1977, the International Conference on Human Functioning was the bold vision of Dr. Hugh Riordan, a pioneer in integrative medicine. His goal: to foster meaningful education among colleagues and the broader community, while challenging conventional medical norms.
Dr. Riordan envisioned a space where scientific innovation, nutritional research, and biochemical individuality could come to the forefront, free from commercial influence and dominated not by controversy, but by curiosity and collaboration. The inaugural event drew over 500 attendees and set a new standard for medical conferences. From the beginning, Dr. Riordan was passionate about bringing the brightest biochemical and orthomolecular minds to Wichita, igniting unconventional conversations and groundbreaking discoveries in the heartland.
