Explore the fundamentals of design and painting in this approachable and fun oil or acrylic class. Emphasis will be on structure, composition, color, and value, as well as on the creative journey of personal expression. Students are encouraged to use their own references for inspiration.

REQUIRED MATERIALS LIST https://cheapjoes.com/royal-langnickel-regis-oil-color-brush-paint-set.html • Basic palette for all mediums: red, orange, yellow, blue, purple, and green; Neutral (earth) tones are: brown, grey, black, and white • Canvas (any size) • An odorless brush cleaner/solvent (Gamsol, Mona Lisa or DaVinci) • Select a small variety of brushes (round and flat shapes from small to large sizes) • Soft T-shirt rags (cut up into 12 x 12 inch squares or larger) • Paper towels (quality) • Any container that will hold approximately 1/2 cup of thinning medium (tin cans work really well) • Aprons or old clothes (best idea)

Learn fundamentals and how to make effective choices for drawing and painting human figures. Students will be introduced to artistic styles, various compositions, various media, and techniques for figurative elements.
