PROJECT BRIEF:
RIM was the Architect of Record for the newly opened Mauna Lani Hotel, located on the Kona Coast of the Island of Hawaii. As the first Auberge Resorts property in the Aloha State, this popular, luxury hotel was thoughtfully redesigned to celebrate the history, archaeology, nature, and culture that make this site unique. The centerpiece of its cultural heritage is the 15-acre fishpond complex, dating back to the 1200s. Mauna Lani, which means “mountains reaching heaven,” is also home to 27 parks and two historic trails sprinked with ancient artifacts. Located on 32 oceanside acres, the resort offers three distinct pools, five restaurants, two golf courses, a fitness center, a spa and wellness center, and various outdoor programs.

PROJECT BRIEF:
RIM was the Architect of Record for the famous Canoe House, which is the Mauna Lani Resort’s iconic signature restaurant. The historic structure was largely preserved structurally, maintaining the large volume ceilings and heavy timber beams. The interior and exterior spaces, including the central bar, are completely new with a wide range of casual seating opportunities and exquisite décor. The Canoe House is recognized as the kitchen where modern Hawaiian cuisine pioneer Alan Wong made his mark. Canoe House is carrying on this tradition under Chef Matt Raso.

Located in the Canyon Lands of southern Utah, this ultra-luxury resort is set among the bucolic landscape at the north end of Lake Powell. The resort’s abstracted ruin forms are realized in cast concrete, steel and glass. The heart of the resort is the large swimming pool which is engaged into the site’s natural rock formation.

The beauty of the Coconut Beach Resort, with warmth of the people of Kauai, is the new luxury residence resort overlooking the gentle waters of Makaiwa Beach at Waipouli, Kauai. Island guests will stroll along the new 1,700 ft. beach front, on this 20-acre property, featuring botanical gardens filled with water features, and fragrant flowers. Exploring the resort guests will discover native, local and uniquely Hawaiian cultural arts, events, and experiences. The property will feature a famous island celebrity chef with an all-day dining world class restaurant, a full service departure lounges, fitness centers, activity sliding pool, adult quiet pools and a swim up pool bar.
