The Red Lodge Ski-Joring Association has been hosting the National Finals Ski-Joring Races since 1980. Ski-Joring originated in Scandinavian countries as a form of winter transportation. The west has transformed this into an action packed competition wherein teams of horse, rider and skier negotiate a 700+ foot course, the horse and rider taking a track to the inside of the course while the skier in tow, negotiates 20-some slalom gates and four jumps in hopes of completing two fast, clean runs. He received his MFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 2001. His work is included in many public and private collections, including the American Museum of Ceramic Art, CA and the Brooklyn Museum of Art, NY. He is the owner and director of Harvey Preston Gallery in Aspen. He recently received the prestigious 2019 USA Fellowship Award, recognizing the most compelling artists working and living in the United States. Alleghany Meadows is a studio potter in Carbondale, Colorado. He received his BA from Pitzer College, Claremont, CA, and his MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. Alleghany studied with Takashi Nakazato, Karatsu, Japan, received a Watson Foundation Fellowship for field study of potters in Nepal, and was an artist-in-residence at Anderson Ranch Arts Center.
