Cynthea Sandoval is the owner and founder of doodlebug design inc. and has always been drawn to anything creative.

She has a fascination with color and organization that began as early as she can remember. Her world is a world of color, and color is infused into everything doodlebug creates.

Cynthea’s journey began back in 1999 when she was working as a print sales rep. and was in need of a unique paper design. She ended up illustrating it herself and showed it to one of her clients who produced scrapbook papers. Their encouragement sparked the desire to try her hand at designing her own paper and products.What began as a small business in her garage has become a thriving operation in Salt Lake City, Utah in their new state-of-the-art facility.

Cynthea attributes much of her success to her hardworking parents who taught her the value of an honest day’s work. Her family is her life and they are very much a part of her business.

Cynthea’s life has been focused on trying to give and make a difference in people’s lives. Designing and creating have been a way to reach out and provide a product that makes people smile. The friends and relationships that are built along the way are the best part of her business and are priceless to her.

Doodlebug prints are synonymous with cute. Cynthea brings her characters to life as she tries to infuse a little of the enchantment she sees and feels into the whimsical icons that the company is known for.

People often refer to doodlebug as a happy company with happy products, so it is easy to see that happy artwork makes happy fabric.

Stitches of Love

We are a mother-daughter design team, best friends, joined at the hip and obsessed with all things quilting. Our company, Stitches of Love, is a dream come true that we imagined and planned for years. Now that our dream is becoming a reality, we constantly say to each other, “Is this really happening?!”

Julie always had the creativity and designs in her mind and first began bringing here ideas to life in the late 90s. She designed jumpers for teachers that featured an array of whimsical applique scenes. As she became more interested in quilting, the focus shifted to designing applique quilts for her friends, family and home. Soon, she began hearing the question, “Where did you get that pattern? I have to buy it!”

The answer was always that Julie had designed the quilt and so began the journey to publishing patterns.

Brittany was also very focused on making Stitches of Love a reality. Even during grad school, she focused all of her projects around the idea of Stitches of Love and building a business through online marketing. After graduation, Brittany built the Stitches of Love website, started marketing through Facebook and worked to build an audience for Julie’s designs.

We were amazed to see how quickly our PDF patterns gained popularity. We loved that a traditional craft like quilting was still alive and kicking…and tech savvy! At the same time, we worked to grow our footprint throughout quilt shops in the US with our printed patterns and have been fortunate to develop relationships with shop owners we now consider to be some of our closest friends.
