As artists and craftspeople, we are passionate about preserving the time-honored traditions and techniques of artists and print-makers from the 20th Century. We travel all over America (especially the National Parks) for inspiration, but we love our hometown, Nashville, Tennessee. The Conservatory was born after returning from an Arts and Crafts workshop at the V&A Museum in London. Surrounded by archives of pattern and craftsmanship, I came back filled with new ideas. Soon after, I began creating what would become my first wallpaper line, and from those designs, this collection took shape. It's a study of pattern and form, a reflection of my love for heritage design and the spaces where art and craft meet.

About the Line
When I started quilting after college nearly twenty years ago, I had a difficult time finding fabrics to appeal to my 20-something color palette. Often batiks were the only options for finding something bright and bold enough to bring my quilt ideas to life. The advent of the modern quilting movement made finding fabric a lot easier, and I developed a career designing 150+ quilting patterns, and releasing hundreds of video tutorials, teaching quilters how to improve their skills. I’m excited to go back to my fabric roots and bring the elements I love about modern quilting fabric to batik. I worked with Riley Blake Designs to create as clear and bright of colors as possible. The result is a collection that embraces both the traditional fabric dying process and modernizes it for today’s quilter. You’ll find a hot and cool colorway, but both are all designed to work together as one cohesive collection.

New Block Challenge for 2027!
We’re thrilled to announce the return of our annual RBD Block Challenge, kicking off in January 2027! What began during the pandemic as a way to bring the quilting community together has grown into a beloved tradition—both for us and for quilters everywhere.
As in years past, we’ll be stitching two beautiful versions of the quilt: one in Confetti Cotton solids and the other in Batiks. Each version offers a stunning showcase of color, texture, and creativity.
The Block Challenge is supported each week with a free pattern, email, blog post, and video tutorial—everything your customers need to follow along and stay inspired.
