With the project ‘Who does the country(side) belong to?’ Rijksmuseum Twenthe explores how, in past centuries, man has cultivated the land and made it serve his own purposes, and what the consequences of this are today. 'Who does the country(side) belong to?’ consists of three exhibitions, artistic research and an extensive public program. This accompanying publication contains an overview of three exhibitions and the exhibited works. In addition, several essays examine the project's themes and the artistic research carried out by various artists as part of the project.
