THE POWER OF CONTINUITY

PIERANTONIO RIELLO
VENT’ANNI DI ECCELLENZA NEL SEGNO DI UNA VISIONE CONDIVISA
PIERANTONIO RIELLO
TWENTY YEARS OF EXCELLENCE, DRIVEN BY A SHARED VISION
Turning the pages of this book means looking back over two decades of memories and successes, both sporting and business-related.
When, twenty years ago, we decided to link the name of Riello UPS with that of Ducati Corse, we were not simply signing a sponsorship agreement, but rather a pact between two organisations that spoke the same language: that of technology, passion and the pride of Italian manufacturing, capable of challenging the global giants.
For Riello UPS, the word “continuity” is not merely a technical concept linked to uninterruptible power supply units, also known as UPS, but a value that translates into a commitment to always guaranteeing safety and reliability, especially when the margin for error is zero. It is an attitude we have always recognised and found in Ducati Corse too, and this has been the main glue holding our relationship together over the years.
The challenges on the racetracks, alongside Ducati Corse, have helped us improve our ability to manage critical situations in real time – a capability we have integrated into our corporate culture and demonstrated at the recent Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, where our systems ensured the telemetry systems functioned across all competition venues, even under the most extreme operating conditions.
With this book, we celebrate twenty years of partnership, a milestone we have been able to reach because we have known how to race together, with the passion of those who love their work and the determination of those who are not content with a mere placing. I would therefore like to thank the men and women of Riello Elettronica and Ducati Corse for making all this possible and for continuing to support these two companies in the challenges that lie ahead, which they will face, once again together, always aiming for the best possible result.

FABIO PASSUELLO
AFFIDABILITÀ E PASSIONE: LA STORIA DI RIELLO UPS
E DUCATI CORSE
FABIO PASSUELLO RELIABILITY AND PASSION: THE STORY OF RIELLO UPS AND DUCATI CORSE
Over the past twenty years, the partnership between Riello UPS and Ducati Corse has never been merely about publicity. It was an industrial decision: first technical, then strategic, and finally a matter of identity.
We chose Ducati Corse because we saw MotoGP as an authentic environment. Tough. Measurable. An environment where reliability, responsiveness, the ability to work under pressure, and attention to detail are not slogans, but conditions for survival. In this sense, a racing team’s pit crew and our world have much in common: we, too, work to ensure the continuity of systems that cannot stop.
Over time, the relationship has grown alongside the two companies. Ducati Corse has weathered victories, comebacks, and technical cycles, eventually returning permanently to the world’s pinnacle. Riello UPS has followed a similar path: it has expanded its product range, invested in research, internationalized its commercial presence, and strengthened its supply chain by anticipating issues that are now fundamental, such as energy efficiency, data centers, storage, the digitization of services, cybersecurity, and sustainability. In the book, we highlight this parallelism. Not to construct a sportsthemed narrative, nor to argue that business and competition are the same thing: they are not. Both, however, reward method, organization, expertise, and continuity. Results come when the system works. And the system works when every part does its job to the best of its ability.
In Ducati Corse, we found a partner consistent with our way of seeing things: concrete technology, work ethic, international ambition, Italian roots. At Riello UPS, we have sought to embrace this approach, aiming to evolve without losing our identity. Looking back, the value of these years lies not only in the logos on the motorcycles or in the victories. It lies in the journey. It lies in the credibility built year after year. It lies in the technical and industrial relationship we have built together.
That is the point. The partnership with Ducati Corse has accompanied an important phase of Riello UPS’s growth. It did not replace it. It did not tell the story in our place. It made it more visible, because it was based on real substance.
And that is where we must always start: from the facts, from the projects, from the results.

ALL-ITALIAN ENERGY:
THE SPARK BETWEEN RIELLO UPS AND DUCATI CORSE
In the early 2000s, a new ambition was taking shape in Borgo Panigale. Livio Suppo, first as marketing manager and later as team manager for Ducati’s racing division, was laying the groundwork for a future of global success. For his motorcycle, he wasn’t looking for mere sponsors but for partners capable of sharing the Rossa’s technological DNA. Meanwhile, in Legnago, Pierantonio Riello was leading a group with a clear global vision. The company was already among the world leaders in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) with its Riello UPS brand, but the market demanded further momentum.
The first meeting between Livio Suppo and Pierantonio Riello was the convergence of two kindred visions, founded on technological excellence and Italian spirit. The management at Riello UPS immediately sensed that MotoGP could serve as the perfect testing ground to examine their systems under the extreme conditions of competition. The collaboration became official in 2006, with the discretion typical of great engineers. A technological partnership was signed: Riello UPS would provide technical support to the team, without the logo appearing on the Desmosedici. Management was cautious: it wanted the technical value to be demonstrated before focusing on marketing. The challenge of Ducati Corse and Riello UPS had a human face: Loris Capirossi. The rider from Imola, the idol of the crowds, was capable of taming the power of the Ducati with a courage from another era. His determination perfectly embodied the grit that Riello UPS wanted to convey to the global market.
The event that forever changed the history of this partnership took place in late 2006, during an electrical industry trade show in Milan.
At the Riello UPS stand, usually dominated by large electronic devices and colourful cables, the unexpected happened. Livio Suppo had brought along the official Desmosedici and Loris Capirossi. The atmosphere in the hall suddenly became electric – and certainly not because of the machinery on display.
The crowd gathered instantly and was so dense that it brought the exhibition aisles to a standstill.
Visitors and exhibitors abandoned catalogues and stands to get a closer look at Capirex and the bike. The Riello UPS staff watched the scene unfold as Loris Capirossi, surrounded by the crowd, signed autographs on brochures dedicated to inverters and UPS systems, creating an unprecedented fusion of power continuity and the thrill of the track. That extraordinary public success was the definitive proof. The technological partnership had to evolve: Riello UPS had found the perfect channel to communicate its solutions, and Ducati Corse the ideal partner with whom to grow. A story destined to shine had begun.
The first public event where the Desmosedici meets Riello UPS. At Enermotive Milano, the trade fair for electricity from conventional, renewable and alternative sources, Loris Capirossi, Ducati’s official rider, is a guest at the Riello UPS stand and, by engaging with the public, captures the attention of industry professionals.

One hundred years on from its founding, I am very proud of what Ducati has contributed to the world of motor racing and, at the same time, I am equally proud to have had partners by our side who have never let us down and who have always believed in us, in our vision and in our potential.

LUIGI DALL’IGNA GENERAL MANAGER OF DUCATI CORSE

“As we celebrate twenty years of collaboration with Riello UPS, I would like to express my deep gratitude for a partnership that represents much more than a simple alignment of commercial interests. Although I have known Riello UPS directly for ‘only’ fifteen years, I have been able to appreciate right from the start the solidity, professionalism and passion with which they have chosen to accompany Ducati Corse on our sporting and technological journey.
Twenty years of partnership is no small feat: it tells a story of mutual commitment, shared growth and a common vision founded on the values of excellence, innovation and determination. Throughout this time, Riello UPS has been a fundamental partner, capable of guaranteeing reliable technical support and making a tangible contribution during the most delicate phases of our development.
It is only right to emphasise that certain results and achievements would not have been possible without the support of a major sponsor such as Riello UPS. Their presence has been a key factor at decisive moments, contributing to our ability to compete at the highest levels and successfully tackle the most complex sporting and technological challenges. Together we have overcome regulatory changes, technical developments and seasons that have tested our determination.
MAURO GRASSILLI DUCATI CORSE SPORTING DIRECTOR

“Celebrating twenty years of collaboration with Riello UPS means, first and foremost, celebrating a story built on passion, mutual trust and shared growth. It is not just a numerical milestone: it is the culmination – and at the same time the new beginning – of a journey we have built together, day after day, track after track.
I clearly remember the moment this partnership began. We were a team with big dreams and big challenges ahead; they were a solid, visionary company, ready to believe in our project and support it. Since then, Riello UPS has never been a mere sponsor, but a true travelling companion. Sharing twenty years of races, victories and difficult moments creates a bond that goes beyond the professional: it becomes personal, authentic. I have had the privilege of experiencing every stage of this adventure alongside them. I have seen Riello UPS technicians, managers and professionals show the same passion for our sporting battles as if they were their own; I have seen the same determination they put into their work reflected in our desire to compete at the highest levels. This shared set of values – reliability, performance, innovation – is the reason why our relationship has lasted so long, growing stronger year after year.
Twenty years of partnership are not built by chance. They are built on trust, consistency and the desire to look to the future.
And today, as we celebrate this milestone, I cannot help but feel a deep sense of gratitude: towards the company, towards the people who make it up, towards those who believed in us when we still had everything to prove.
Riello UPS is part of our history. And, I am certain, it will continue to be so in the future we are preparing.
Thank you, truly, for these extraordinary first twenty years together.”

SANDRO DONATO GROSSO WHEN A PROFILE SPEAKS VOLUMES

Quality is a word that is part of our everyday lives. It is often used in a commercial context to describe a superior product, and more rarely, in a context where the pursuit of values is increasingly niche or to describe a person. When I think of Riello UPS, I like the idea that quality can become a common thread capable of uniting entrepreneurial drive, business strategies, and processes, alongside a passion for sport expressed with style, as well as quality.
Personally, having spent the last fifteen years in the pits as a correspondent, I have come to regard that section of the Ducati livery, which proudly bears the name Riello UPS, as a familiar and reassuring presence, never ‘shouty’ or ‘over the top’ but always expressed with style.
Amidst the frenetic chaos of the paddock, between the heat of the engines and the tension of the narrative of a magical sport, that logo has become, for me and for those in the know, the symbol of a quiet yet fundamental stability. I have seen first hand just how vital energy continuity and data protection are: behind every braking manoeuvre at the limit lies a technological infrastructure that cannot afford any interruptions, and that is where the bond between these two entities takes shape. Twenty years. In a world that moves as fast as that of motorsport, this is not merely a span of time, but an entire era of technical evolution, challenges and triumphs. Celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the partnership between Riello UPS and Ducati Corse today means honouring one of the longest-standing and most solid partnerships in the history of racing: a pact founded on values that withstand the test of time, such as the excellence of Italian craftsmanship, the pursuit of perfection and the ability to harness energy and transform it into pure performance. At the heart of this long journey lies the foresight of the Riello family and a dedicated management team. It was their entrepreneurial vision, rooted in a historic industrial tradition yet always looking to the future, that recognised how the Borgo Panigale Racing Department was the ideal place to express the brand’s identity. For Riello UPS, this partnership has never been a mere image investment, but rather the natural extension of a way of doing business: with courage, dedication and a deep pride in Italian ingenuity. This continuity has ensured the partnership a rare stability, ideally uniting Legnago with Borgo Panigale. The sporting achievements of these two decades speak the language of legend. In MotoGP, we experienced the thrill of the first world title with Casey Stoner in 2007, leading up to the crowning of the modern era. Over the last twenty years, Ducati has won five riders’ world titles and a remarkable seven manufacturers’ world titles, including five consecutive championships from 2020 to 2024, establishing unprecedented technological dominance. Added to these are the countless successes in WorldSBK, where the ‘Rossa’ has reaffirmed its global supremacy, making this two-decade period the most successful ever for the Bologna-based manufacturer. This photo book has been meticulously crafted to capture the emotion of every single moment of this extraordinary journey. I invite you to leaf through it at your leisure, to lose yourself in the details of the fairings and the gazes of the protagonists, to capture the essence of a challenge that is renewed at every green light. Enjoy these pages: they tell an Italian story that has never stopped dreaming and winning. Because, if energy is the engine of the world, passion is the only force capable of propelling it towards the future.

A GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP!
2007 marked a turning point in the relationship with Ducati Corse. After an initial phase of mutual coordination and technical collaboration - carried out away from the spotlight to ensure uninterrupted power supply for servers, telemetry, and analysis systems in the Ducati pit lane - Riello UPS took a significant step forward, becoming the team’s technical sponsor.
On the track, Casey Stoner, riding the Desmosedici GP7, was the architect of an extraordinary season, securing a well-deserved world championship title through a string of victories. Ducati Corse thus became the first manufacturer capable of snatching the title from the Japanese in more than thirty years.
On the industrial front, Riello UPS was experiencing an equally significant period. With the launch of the first models in the Multi Plus range - destined to become, within a few years, a benchmark product for the European market under the new name Multi Sentry - Riello UPS ushered in a decisive phase in the medium-power systems market segment.
Fewer compromises, superior performance, and maximum focus on the overall result: the new devices spoke the same language as the Desmosedici GP7.
2007 was also a memorable year for the Group, with the acquisition of Riello TDL S.L., which strengthened its direct presence in a strategic market like Spain and confirmed a path of solid and consistent growth.

THE MOTORCYCLE BECOMES A BRAND AMBASSADOR
The ongoing innovation at Riello UPS’s laboratories was paying off, generating new products for a wide range of market segments: from the upgraded Multi Plus models, designed to strengthen the company’s presence in the mid-range, transformer-free category, to the new Master Plus Industrial series, engineered for the most demanding industrial environments; from the Multi Switch, featuring an architecture tailored for data centers, to the compact Power Dialog Plus, ideal for small offices.
The partnership with Ducati Corse then evolved into a full-fledged, Europe-wide touring communications campaign. Riello UPS exhibited the 2008 Ducati GP at major European trade shows: from MEDIEL (Naples) to CeBIT (Hanover), one of the world’s largest IT and technology trade shows; from General Com (Reggio Emilia) to Matelec (Madrid), all the way to Estoril (Lisbon).
The impact was extraordinary, and the synergy between the motorcycle and UPS reached an unprecedented level. Every time, the Riello UPS booth became a major attraction: customers came to see the motorcycle and stayed to discuss power continuity, while distributors left with plentiful stories to tell.
Meanwhile, on the track, Casey Stoner continued to win race after race, coming within a hair’s breadth of the title behind Valentino Rossi and significantly contributing to increasing customer interest in Riello UPS and its products.
Riello UPS’s financial statements confirmed the success of this bold move, closing the year with a 16% increase in revenue compared to the previous year.

ECCELLERE OLTRE I LIMITI – ECO LEVEL
EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS – ECO LEVEL
The year 2009 began with the Desmosedici GP9 and Casey Stoner, who dominated the season-opening race. It seemed like the start of a triumphant run.
It was the same balance that, thousands of miles away, the engineers at Riello UPS had implemented in their new ultra-high-efficiency UPS systems, further reducing energy losses and raising levels of efficiency and sustainability. When it came time to formalize these results, however, a technological paradox emerged: the efficiency was so high that it could not be adequately represented in the CEMEP tables, the European standards of the time.
In Legnago a drastic decision was made: if international standards were insufficient to certify the quality of their UPS units, the company would create its own supplementary evaluation system. Thus Eco Level was born, a proprietary classification based on European standards but far stricter and more restrictive.
Meanwhile, MotoGP was witnessing a heart-pounding season finale. Casey Stoner, having recovered from the health issues that had plagued him in the middle of the year, had returned stronger than ever and ended the season with victories in Australia and Malaysia. He was once again the man to beat, the perfect symbol of an indomitable spirit. 2009 ended with victories and new goals to achieve.
The bond between Riello UPS and Ducati Corse had been cemented. Stoner and Hayden had proven the bike’s worth. The Eco Level had demonstrated the technological leadership of Riello UPS devices. With 2010 just around the corner, everyone was ready.

ENERGY MEETS DESIGN
2010 was a year of intense challenges for the Ducati Corse Team in MotoGP. While Casey Stoner tackled the difficult task of pushing the powerful but complex Desmosedici GP10 to its limits – culminating in spectacular victories – Nicky Hayden consistently made a decisive contribution to the bike’s development, confirming that reliability is just as valuable as speed.
Meanwhile, in Legnago, the team was looking for a way to make the partnership between Riello UPS and Ducati Corse more visible. Salvatore Moria, Riello UPS’s Sales Director for Italy, sensed that it was time to go beyond a simple logo on the fairing. He decided to bring his team together to give shape to this vision: to create a tangible and iconic symbol capable of speaking directly to the hearts of partners and stakeholders.
The iPlug, as reliable as the systems protecting the Ducati Corse team’s servers, fully embodied this technical value.
The challenge of moving from functionality to aesthetics – transforming that small power source into a cult object – was met by bringing in Drudi Performance, the creative genius behind MotoGP helmets and liveries. Drudi imbued the iPlug’s surface with a sense of power and the spirit of racing, giving it dynamic lines emblazoned in Ducati red. The result was a work of industrial design, striking a perfect balance between Riello UPS’s technological precision and Ducati’s sporting aggression.
Since 2010, the red iPlugs have become a tangible symbol of the collaboration. The sponsorship had evolved into a story of design and success.

A YEAR THAT COUNTS
2011 was a watershed for Riello UPS’s branding, a year that saw its visibility skyrocket. Valentino Rossi, the nine-time world champion known as “The Doctor,” had switched from Yamaha to Ducati, taking the helm of the Desmosedici GP11

CONSOLIDARE E RAFFORZARE

CONSOLIDATE AND STRENGTHEN
For Riello UPS, 2012 was a year of consolidation and strengthening for the future. While the Desmosedici GP12 was experiencing a season of mixed results, in other quarters Audi was completing its acquisition of Ducati, an event destined to have significant repercussions in the years to come; Riello UPS continued on a path of growth, innovation, and success.
The company firmly maintained its visibility on the Rossa and on the suits of Rossi and Hayden, strengthening an increasingly deep-rooted bond.
On the industrial front, Riello UPS advanced its innovation strategy, marking a significant technological leap with the introduction of the Master HP 600 kVA, designed for missioncritical applications and delivering efficiency rates exceeding 99% through advanced energy management. It was a concrete sign of a focus on energy savings and sustainability, charting a clear direction: moving from simple energy protection to increasingly intelligent energy management.
“Innovation means anticipating users’ needs, not chasing after them!” was the mantra circulating in Riello UPS’s R&D department at the time, encapsulating a philosophy that took shape in the development of increasingly advanced solutions and translated into projects of great strategic importance. Among these, a key achievement was the creation of UPS systems with energy efficiency exceeding 99.4%, specifically designed for ENI’s Green Data Center – one of the most advanced in Europe and destined to become the absolute benchmark in the sector – stood out. Riello UPS’s extraordinary design continuity was complemented by a focus on initiatives of cultural significance. Support for the Basilica Palladiana was a clear example of this, with a Riello UPS unit installed to ensure power supply for the entire video surveillance system of a UNESCO World Heritage site. 2012 was also a year of profound innovation in the field of energy storage, with the introduction of SuperCaps technology based on supercapacitors – a solution offering longer lifespan, faster recharging, lower operating costs, and reduced environmental impact.

A true paradigm shift, capable of anticipating trends that would become central in the years to come.
Finally, 2012 saw the start of a radical renovation of the Cormano headquarters, a project destined to yield significant benefits in the medium term.

CONVERGERE CON TRAIETTORIE
DIVERSE
CONVERGING FROM DIFFERENT PATHS
For Ducati Corse, 2013 began as a year of transition: with the arrival of Dovizioso and the entry of Audi and Gigi Dall’Igna, a revolution took shape that would come to fruition in the years to follow.
Meanwhile, Riello UPS reached the milestone of 25 years since its founding without any slow down in momentum: growth and consolidation remained the priorities; in Cormano, the renovation of the large complex proceeded rapidly, while the launch of the Sentinel Power Green range marked a decisive step forward in terms of efficiency and sustainability. At the same time, the CSS series further strengthened the company’s presence in the security systems market.
International expansion also continued, with the acquisition of Azign Technology and the opening of the Singapore branch.
In Italy, the commitment to protecting artistic heritage continued, with systems installed to safeguard Milan Cathedral, while the agreement with EDSlan consolidated the company’s position in the high-value solutions segment, particularly in the data center sector. In this context, Riello UPS became the promoter of the Site Preparation Forum, increasingly establishing itself as a cultural and technological benchmark.
As a corollary to this journey, the company received new international recognition from Frost & Sullivan, which honored its capabilities in innovation, reliability, and strategic vision.
Thus, while Ducati Corse was laying the foundations for its own rebirth, Riello UPS continued to grow steadily: two distinct yet converging trajectories, united by the same drive toward excellence and the capacity for long-term vision.

CONTINUITY BECOMES A METHOD
2014 was a year of rebuilding for Ducati Corse in MotoGP. Gigi Dall’Igna set a new course, Dovizioso proved himself a reliable mainstay, and the Desmosedici GP14 gradually began to reappear at the top of the standings.
Riello UPS, which could finally reap the benefits of the restructuring of the Cormano site – the main phases of which were completed, although some work will continue through 2017 – experienced a year marked by continuity, characterized by a clear strategic approach, the evolution of the product portfolio, and consolidation in core markets. The world of data centers became even more central to the corporate strategy, and the continued commitment to the Site Preparation Forum was clear confirmation of this.
“The idea for the event was born right here in our offices, together with partners with whom we had shared experiences, such as the ENI data center. It is worth noting that the first leg of this event was organized in the prestigious halls of the Ducati Museum, thanks to our excellent relationship with the Borgo Panigale-based company,” recalls Salvatore Moria, Sales Director for Italy. This account encapsulates the essence of the partnership: Ducati as a prestigious setting and Riello UPS as an industrial player capable of generating tangible value across business, content, and supply chain relationships. Riello UPS decisively accelerated its focus on innovation. The launch of the Master High Efficiency series, designed for data centers and capable of achieving up to 99.4% efficiency in Eco Mode, represented one of the most significant steps. The goal was clear: to go beyond the concept of reliability to demonstrate economic transparency, reduced energy consumption, and rapid ROI.
At the same time, the company also took an early lead on new energy trajectories –smart grids, storage, and electric mobility – capturing a convergence of previously distinct themes: power continuity, energy storage, and smart energy management. While Ducati Corse worked to build future sporting successes, Riello UPS strengthened its industrial positioning, not with dramatic twists but with methodical continuity and rigor.

THE PROJECT GAINS MOMENTUM
In 2015, Ducati Corse’s rebuilding efforts began to yield tangible results. Dovizioso and Iannone were bringing the bike to the podium with increasing frequency, a sign that the machine was now closing in on the level of the best. The time for new triumphs was approaching.
Riello UPS also experienced a year of growth, marked by innovations, complex applications, accolades, and significant milestones. The parallel is clear: Ducati Corse sought consistent performance on the track, while Riello UPS pursued consistency, reliability, and the achievement of strategic market targets.
The year began with the launch of the new Multi Sentry 160-200 kVA units, designed for data centers, telecommunications, and critical systems, with a clear message: high performance, zero impact on the power source, and a strong focus on energy savings.
Just a few months later came one of the most significant milestones of the year: the presentation of the Multi Power modular system designed for high-density data centers. In response to a market demanding increasingly flexible, scalable, and reliable solutions, Riello UPS offered systems capable of growing alongside the customer, spreading out the overall investment and optimizing the total cost of ownership.
It wasn’t just data centers; in the fall, one of the most significant agreements of the year strengthened the relationship with Fincantieri: for the next five years, Riello UPS would supply uninterruptible power supplies, rectifiers, and battery chargers for the electrical systems of large, newly built naval vessels.
This ability to operate across different sectors clearly demonstrates the maturity achieved. Uninterruptible power supplies had by then become a universal language, applicable to any context where reliability, autonomy, and power quality were decisive factors.

Un premio all’originalità.

A YEAR OF ACHIEVEMENTS
The groundwork laid in previous seasons paid off on the track. The Desmosedici GP16 was back on the winning track, and the successes of Iannone and Dovizioso restored Borgo Panigale’s well-deserved competitive edge.
For Riello UPS, 2016 held similar significance, with the strengthening of key strategic pillars: product innovation, service digitization, expansion of the sales channel, and simplification of relationships with customers and designers.
The year began with a major international recognition: the Multi Power system, launched the previous year, was judged by Frost & Sullivan to be a new standard in the modular UPS market. More than the technology itself, it was the way it met the market’s real needs that impressed: modularity, flexibility, reduced TCO, and the ability to grow alongside the business.
At the same time, Riello UPS took an important strategic step with the opening of its first direct subsidiary in the United States, destined to become a hub for all of North America. Located near Cincinnati, it was immediately structured for sales and service activities, featuring a large warehouse, installation and commissioning services, and, above all, the ability to customize products locally according to specific market needs.
This initiative was a clear signal of Riello UPS’s international expansion strategy, aimed at rapidly securing a prominent position in the U.S. market and competing with the other major global players.
In the fall, a seemingly simple yet indicative tool of the company’s culture arrived: the Online Configurator, designed to help installers, designers, and end-users choose the right UPS based on application, power, runtime, and future needs.
Thus, while Ducati Corse returned to victory, Riello UPS consolidated its trajectory with equally concrete results: awards, digital platforms, new distribution agreements, and smarter services.

SUPPLY CHAIN AND THE FUTURE
In 2017, Ducati Corse reclaimed its place among the top contenders. Dovizioso fought for the title right up to the final race, securing six wins and bringing the Desmosedici GP17 back to the top. Ducati was back!
Riello UPS followed a similar trajectory, with strong, diversified, international growth. In the spring came a major launch, both technologically and strategically: the new Sentinel Dual SDU single-phase range, entirely Made in Italy, more compact, more flexible and with 11% more power.
The theme of integration was at the heart of the event organised with Stulz in the Ducati Auditorium: power and cooling were presented to designers and IT managers as value-added elements of the same supply chain. Gigi Dall’Igna also spoke, explaining the partnership between Ducati Corse, Riello UPS and other players in the supply chain, demonstrating in practical terms how the era of isolated individualism was now a thing of the past.
Similarly, in the second half of the year, Riello UPS redefined its offering for missioncritical applications with NextEnergy, focusing on efficiency, ease of monitoring and system flexibility.
Growth in international markets also continued: with the opening of the Dubai branch, direct coverage of a strategic area spanning the Arabian Peninsula, Central Asia and South-East Africa began.
Finally, the long-standing efforts led, among others, by Roberto Facci, Riello UPS’s international sales director, came to fruition, and the company entered Formula E as the main sponsor of the Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler team – a move consistent with Riello UPS’s commitment to electric mobility, energy storage and smart energy management. Whilst Ducati Corse returned to compete for the World Championship, Riello UPS demonstrated an increasingly comprehensive identity: industrial, international and technological.

ENERGY BECOMES A SYSTEM
In 2018, Ducati Corse remained firmly at the top of the MotoGP standings: Dovizioso was once again a key figure but failed to turn his consistent form into a final overtaking manoeuvre on Márquez. The Desmosedici GP18 proved itself fully competitive, but its superiority remained intermittent at the decisive moments.
Meanwhile, Riello UPS strengthened its competitiveness by focusing on three strategic pillars: sustainability, applied innovation, and institutional recognition.
In February, it launched the “Chi rottama si premia” campaign, promoting the renewal of the UPS fleet and the correct disposal of WEEE. Fabio Passuello described it as a perfect practical example of the company’s mission statement: “Reliable power for a sustainable world”.
In the spring, the company gave even greater significance to its involvement in Formula E by organising, together with Confindustria and Il Sole 24 Ore, a round table discussion during the Rome Grand Prix, dedicated to mobility, sustainability and safety. This forum was designed to look at the future as an ecosystem rather than as a single technology. This approach was also confirmed on the international stage. In Germany, Riello UPS won the Deutschen Rechenzentrumspreis alongside RWE – one of the most prestigious awards in the data center sector – thanks to a solution capable of using the energy stored in UPS batteries as an active resource for the electricity grid.
In the autumn, Multi Power entered the ADI Design Index 2018; even in the world of UPS systems, industrial design, usability and scalability had become an integral part of innovation.
Whilst Ducati Corse successfully defended its position, Riello UPS consolidated its identity as a technology player capable of anticipating change before it became a market reality.
On the track, 2018 was a year of confirmation. In business, a year of applied vision.

DOUBLING THE COMMITMENT
In 2019, Ducati Corse remained at the top of MotoGP, though it failed to break Márquez’s dominance. Riding bikes sporting the new Mission Winnow livery, characterised by a darker, matt red, Dovizioso racked up wins and podium finishes, whilst Petrucci secured his first victory in the premier class at Mugello.
Still in the world of motorcycling, Riello UPS chose to double its commitment by also supporting the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team in the World Superbike Championship.
On the technical front, the company launched a series of travelling seminars sponsored by the CEI (Italian Electrotechnical Committee) aimed at designers and businesses on the theme of “Designing the Future”, with the aim of facilitating the drafting of specifications and technical requirements.
The concept of advanced energy infrastructure emerged clearly at the Energy Community in Motion conference, organised by Riello UPS in Rome to coincide with the Formula E-Prix, focusing on topics such as energy storage, electric mobility, smart grids and grid balancing.
2019 was also a busy year for new products: Sentinel Rack, a compact solution designed for IT and networking applications; the 250 kVA NextEnergy for data centers and missioncritical environments; Sentinel Tower for security and telecommunications applications; and, above all, Sentryum, a range designed to combine flexibility, compactness and high efficiency.
There was no shortage of positive results and accolades: consolidated revenues exceeding €301 million, continued growth for the group, the Metellino d’Oro award for digital efficiency in the supply chain, and the Eccellenze d’Impresa award for internationalisation. In summary, whilst Ducati Corse confirmed its competitiveness, edging ever closer to closing the circle, Riello UPS demonstrated an increasingly evident maturity.

COVID E RESILIENZA
In sport, there are no certainties. In MotoGP, 2020 was an unusual season: a reduced calendar due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a narrower technical balance, and consistency that was hard to come by. Rather than a year of momentum, it was a year of adaptation. Yet, against that backdrop, Ducati Corse managed to secure the constructors’ title.
For Riello UPS, the key word was ‘resilience’, understood as an industrial practice.
At the start of the year, the company decisively strengthened the digitalisation of its supply chain, obtaining the BMECat-ETIM 6 traceability certification and confirming a vision increasingly focused on data quality, efficient order management and integration with customers and distributors. It was a step less visible than a product launch but just as decisive in strengthening the overall business structure.
Despite Covid and all its consequences, product expansion continued. The Multi Power range extended into IoT and edge computing applications, with increasingly scalable and compact modular systems.
In May, the new NextEnergy 500 kVA was launched, designed for ever-larger data centers and mission-critical installations.
At the end of the year, with the Sentinel Dual SDU Modular MBB, Riello UPS further strengthened its commitment to simplified maintenance, hot-swap capability, cost reduction and greater reliability for micro data centers and edge computing.
During the most challenging phase of the pandemic, the company managed to keep its operations fully running, ensuring continuity for critical sectors such as hospitals, transport and telecommunications, whilst also supporting the local community through emergency-related initiatives.

Thus, whilst Ducati Corse sought stability, Riello UPS demonstrated that continuity, in its world, is not merely a technical function: it is the ability to withstand the shock, remain operational and prepare for the future even when everything around it is changing.

THE YEAR OF THE PIT LANE BLACKOUT
In 2021, Ducati Corse was once again in contention for the championship right to the very end. With new riders Bagnaia and Miller, the team secured key victories and the manufacturers’ title, whilst the riders’ world championship slipped away by the narrowest of margins. The Desmosedici GP21 was now a fully-fledged technical platform.
For its part, Riello UPS focused heavily on technological growth. Its range of security and emergency solutions was expanded with the new CSS Sentryum and CSS Sentinel Tower ranges, strengthening its presence in applications where power continuity is vital for the protection of people and facilities.
At the same time, Riello UPS pushed for integration between power continuity and digital transformation, launching major collaborations with leading technology partners in the IoT and Artificial Intelligence sectors. The collaboration with Syneto brought new features for the protection of virtualisation, storage and disaster recovery, whilst the agreement with SECO Mind paved the way for a new generation of digital services based on Cloud, IoT and AI.
2021 was also a year of recognised efficiency: almost all Riello UPS ranges achieved Elite classification, exceeding the highest requirements outlined in the new 2021-23 European Code of Conduct.
There was no shortage of new product developments: from the Sentryum 30-40 kVA, the 75 kW Multi Power Combo Cabinet for IoT and edge computing, the new NextEnergy 600-800 kVA for large mission-critical applications, to the Sentryum Rack for harsh industrial environments.

However, it was in the Ducati Corse pits that the most telling incident occurred: during practice at the Sachsenring, a sudden power cut left all the pits without power. In the Ducati Corse garage, however, the computers, network and telemetry systems continued to function, thanks precisely to the protection provided by Riello UPS units.

ONE YEAR, THREE WORLD CUPS!
In the sixteenth year of the partnership with Ducati Corse, the most prestigious achievement was also reached: the “Triple Crown”, with victories in the Riders’, Constructors’ and Teams’ championships.
An all-Italian success not seen since the days of Agostini and MV, it was also the moment when the technological collaboration with Riello UPS became even more tangible, demonstrating its most concrete value: the conditions that make performance possible. A significant incident occurred at the Sachsenring, where another power cut struck the pits again just before qualifying. Whilst work for many teams slowed down, the Riello UPS systems continued to supply power to computers, telemetry and links with Borgo Panigale, allowing the team to continue working without interruption on data and set-up adjustments. Shortly afterwards, Bagnaia secured pole position.
At the end of the season, Luigi Dall’Igna recalled that episode as “tangible proof” of the value of Riello UPS systems, capable of ensuring operational continuity even under the most critical conditions.
On the industrial front, it was a year of expansion and positioning. Riello UPS grew its UL/ CSA-certified Sentryum S3U range with new 40, 50 and 60 kVA models, strengthening its presence in the North American market and in mission-critical applications. It also introduced the Guard Tower (single-phase) 208-240 V 1ph series with 6-10 kVA models for IT and telecommunications systems.
At the same time, through the Datacenter Synergy series of events, the company addressed the theme of the data center of the future: an ecosystem based on reliability, system integration and a growing drive towards carbon neutrality. This was a clear sign of an increasingly broad vision, in which power continuity and sustainability became an integral part of the same strategy.
To complete the picture, on the international front, the company opened a subsidiary in Ireland, a strategic base to serve the growing European data center market at close quarters.

CONFERME IMPORTANTI
IMPORTANT CONFIRMATIONS
Proving that you are the best can be even harder than winning. In a year when technical superiority needed to be managed, Ducati Corse stood up to the pressure and once again clinched the three world titles: Riders’, Teams’ and Manufacturers’ championships. At the same time, Riello UPS pursued two clear objectives: strengthening its role within the data center ecosystem and raising the technological standard of its product range.
Joining the IDA (Italian Data Center Association) marked a significant step: not merely membership of an important industry association, but a commitment to contributing to the development of a more robust, efficient and sustainable national industry. As Fabio Passuello emphasised, data centers are increasingly strategic for economic development, and Riello UPS intends to make its expertise available to support the challenge of digitalisation.
On the technological front, the year was marked by the launch of Multi Power2, an evolution of the modular data center platform: efficiency of up to 98.1% in online mode, greater compactness, reduced operating costs and a scalable ‘pay-as-you-grow’ approach.
A step forward made even more significant by the introduction of Silicon Carbide (SiC) technology, among the first to be adopted in the sector, capable of further increasing efficiency, power density and thermal management.
A few months later came the expansion of the Sentryum range, with new sizes up to 120 kVA, designed for increasingly demanding applications. At the same time, work began on modernising the FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) facilities in Legnago and Cormano. These are key areas for testing systems prior to dispatch, which are essential for ensuring quality and reliability, particularly in the most critical projects.

Just as Ducati Corse was consolidating its leadership on the track, Riello UPS pursued a similar strategy in the critical power market, focusing on innovation, organisation and performance.

In the 2024 season, Ducati Corse demonstrated both strength and sportsmanship. As the technical benchmark of the class, it achieved numerous successes, securing another triple crown – Manufacturers’, Team and Riders’ titles – and, in the spirit of great fair play, allowing Martin, riding a Ducati for a satellite team, to clinch the title ahead of the factory riders. A result that highlighted its superiority not only in technical terms, but also in terms of its overall system.
Riello UPS began the year by capitalising on the work carried out in the preceding months, marked by a significant presence at the sector’s major global events and a growing commitment to developing increasingly efficient, flexible and sustainable data center solutions.
Building on this solid foundation, and backed by a competitive advantage in terms of power density, integration and energy efficiency, the company strengthened its position in an expanding market, responding to its new priorities: decarbonisation, reduced energy consumption and the management of critical loads in a context increasingly dominated by the Cloud and connected devices.
In the spring, a concrete step was taken on the security and emergency front, with the further expansion of the CSS Sentryum range.
In the second half of the year, the refurbishment of the FAT rooms was completed, also introducing the option of Witness Tests both on-site and remotely, to verify compliance with agreed standards. This service fits seamlessly into Riello UPS’s offering for high-reliability sectors, such as data centers, healthcare infrastructure and military installations. Having consolidated its product and market strategies in Italy and Europe, the company’s focus gradually shifted towards the United States, a high-potential market characterised by fierce competition. The complex strategy required to tackle this market was then developed and defined by Pierantonio Riello, Fabio Passuello and Roberto Facci, laying the foundations for results that would become clearly evident by early 2025.

IN THE SPIRIT OF THE USA
The Bagnaia-Márquez rivalry raised the stakes even further, and Ducati Corse rose to the challenge with structural resilience and excellent management, securing a triple title and retaining its status as the top manufacturer for the sixth consecutive year. Márquez became World Champion, whilst Bagnaia reached a new symbolic milestone, becoming the most successful rider in Ducati Corse’s history in the premier class.
Riello UPS, for its part, successfully implemented the strategic projects it had previously set out. To strengthen its growth in the US market, it consolidated its presence in a highly technological environment such as IndyCar through a partnership with PREMA Racing, based on a model that combines Italian excellence, innovation and international ambition. February saw the expansion of the Multi Power2 range, with solutions for medium and large data centers, characterised by high efficiency and a scalable ‘pay-as-you-grow’ architecture.
The summer marked a less visible but strategic shift: the strengthening of service provision in Italy, which is becoming increasingly central to customers’ decisions due to the growing importance of support and after-sales service. At the same time, leadership was consolidated through investment in innovation and technology, with the launch of a new production line dedicated to the assembly, soldering, testing and painting of Power Boards (PCBs) for UPS systems, thereby improving processes and quality control.
In the second half of the year, Riello UPS further cemented its US strategy with the acquisition of Santa Fe Power Solutions. This move was consistent with the development plan in the United States, opening up new opportunities in highly critical sectors such as airport security controls, whilst simultaneously strengthening the global reach of the ‘Made in Italy’ brand.

ANNIVERSARI, EVENTI, INNOVAZIONE
ANNIVERSARIES, EVENTS, INNOVATION
We have reached the present day. This marks Ducati’s centenary (1926–2026) and twenty years of partnership with Riello UPS (2006–2026). But there is no time for celebration.
With Bagnaia seeking revenge against the indomitable Márquez and the Desmosedici GP26 defending its superiority against increasingly fierce competition, we must maintain the highest levels of commitment and concentration.
Riello UPS kicked off the year by strengthening its offering in the most dynamic segments of critical power with two new additions to its range, the Sentinel Pro2 and Sentinel Dual2, both redesigned for greater efficiency, compactness and ease of use.
From asphalt tracks to snow-covered slopes: between February and March, Riello UPS was an Official Supporter of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. In this capacity, it supplied uninterruptible power supplies and technical support covering all competition venues, spread across more than 22,000 square kilometres. Its significant technical effort ensured the smooth operation of the equipment essential for competitions and training sessions.
Shortly afterwards came the launch of the new Multi Power2 M2X family, designed for small data centers and applications with modular and scalable architecture, alongside NetMan 208C, with which Riello UPS has strengthened its focus on cybersecurity and secure integration into IT and industrial infrastructures.
Finally, at Key Energy, Riello Solartech celebrated twenty years of innovation in photovoltaics by presenting the RS Batlio 5500 modular batteries, designed for businesses seeking smarter and more efficient management of energy flows.

Once again, the profile of a Group capable of going beyond mere continuity to embrace a broader vision encompassing the entire energy lifecycle emerges clearly.

Growing through innovation, without losing sight of its industrial roots, is the guiding principle behind Riello UPS’s development. This approach places the focus on manufacturing in Italy, the quality of processes and a robust, fully managed supply chain, drawing on an integrated industrial vision in which technological innovation, individual expertise and corporate infrastructure become strategic levers for ensuring reliability and continuity over time.
In this context, recent investments in the new headquarters and production centers in Legnago and Cormano play a central role, designed to ensure complete control over the production flow. This integrated industrial model allows for the optimisation of every stage – from design to production, right through to logistics – ensuring high quality standards, operational efficiency, flexibility and maximum reliability. The products are conceived, designed and manufactured in Italy, leveraging in-house engineering expertise and direct control over the entire supply chain. This approach enables Riello UPS to maintain a high level of consistent quality and a strong capacity for customisation, responding promptly to the needs of the most critical environments. Research and innovation continue to drive the development of the product range, with increasingly advanced solutions for strategic applications such as data centers and advanced energy systems, where continuity and intelligent energy management are essential factors.
At the same time, the consolidation of its international presence – in high-potential markets such as the United States and India – goes hand-in-hand with an industrial model that remains firmly rooted in Italy, reinforcing a distinctive identity based on quality, control and expertise.
Riello UPS positions itself as a global player with a fully integrated supply chain, capable of combining an international vision with local industrial roots. A commitment that translates into reliable, efficient and sustainable solutions, in line with its mission: “Reliable power for a sustainable world”. A global strategy with an Italian heart.
To be continued....
Riello UPS is growing: a new plant in Legnago with 10,000 sqm of production space and 3,000 sqm of offices. It will host manufacturing, R&D and technical support, with 2–4 MW available for testing, plus a 550 kW photovoltaic system with 1.2 MWh energy storage.

Riello UPS’s vision and mission are founded on the values of reliability and sustainability, of which the social sphere is a natural cornerstone. In line with this, the company has developed a concrete commitment to supporting health, safety, culture and the community, both through its technological expertise and within a broader framework of social and corporate responsibility.
A significant example is its support for Emergency’s paediatric surgery center in Entebbe, Uganda, designed by Renzo Piano according to environmental sustainability criteria, which offers high-quality free treatment. Riello UPS donated and maintains the systems supporting operating theatres, diagnostics, laboratories and data centers, contributing to the facility’s uninterrupted power supply.
From healthcare to culture, Riello UPS has supported numerous projects aimed at protecting Italy’s historical and artistic heritage. In Vicenza, it has contributed to the security of the UNESCO-listed Basilica Palladiana and the surrounding squares by ensuring the power supply of its video surveillance system. In Milan, it supported the protection of the Duomo, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the complex’s surveillance systems. Similarly, in Genoa, it supported the preservation of the Lanterna, and, adopting the same approach, in Turin, Riello UPS protected the video surveillance system during the public display of the Shroud.
The structured social commitment within which all these initiatives are embedded has led to the establishment of a Social Responsibility Committee, whose key commitments include support for disadvantaged communities, with a particular focus on the Indian subcontinent. It is also worth highlighting Riello UPS’s strong ties to its local area, which are evident in environmental and community initiatives. A clear example is the creation of a nature reserve covering approximately 600 hectares in the Veronese plain, designed to protect local flora and fauna and partly granted to the local council for educational and outreach purposes. This commitment to the local area also includes charitable donations to support cultural, sporting and charitable activities, carried out directly or through participation in the Fondazione Veronese Onlus and the Fondazione Salieri in Legnago. The common thread running through all these initiatives is clear: putting technology, resources and corporate culture at the service of the community, giving concrete form to Riello UPS’s mission.
