T his winter seems to have given us quite a variety of weather conditions. Snow, ice, and freezing rain have given way to warm sunshine as I write this. W ith any luck, the milder temperatures will continue throughout M arch as we welcome our members back to R idgewood! Improvements to the club?s facilities and grounds are progressing on schedule. Some fresh paint, new carpeting, upgrades to the pro shop, and an upgrade to our W ifi mark just a few of these behind-the-scenes activities. Work is moving forward on the driving range expansion and conversion of the tennis courts. O ur single menu offerings on Friday and Saturday nights this winter have been well attended. It?s been wonderful to see members enjoying comradery, a terrific meal, and a warm fire! Clearly, R idgewood remains one of the premier clubs in the area as we continue to see Interest in membership. O ur new membership pipeline has already put us ahead of budget for this fiscal year. T he ?waitlist? remains in place so that we can carefully monitor member access to golf and the restaurant. We have much to look forward to this month as our club fully reopens. T here are a variety of events detailed in the pages of this newsletter so please take note and make your reservations early. I look forward to seeing you at the club! N ancy H awley President

From th e GM Fred Del Perci o, CCM The winter months have gone by quickly and we are preparing to reopen for the season in just two weeks. Our latest stretch of mild weather has me excited for the start of spring and more outdoor activity.
Ri dgew ood Cui si ne Welcome! It?s great to be back for another season of fun and making memories at the Ridgewood Country Club.
Over the winter we completed several maintenance projects. The pub room and the terrace room were both painted. All other areas received touch-up painting and all of the clubhouse carpets have been steam cleaned. In the golf pro shop, we painted and replaced the carpet and renovated the second floor. We also began replacing old HVAC units in the clubhouse which will continue over the next few years.
We have been busy during shut down developing new menu choices. We are excited to roll them out for all to enjoy. The current supply chain issues continue to be a challenge, but we feel confident we will be able to procure the highest quality ingredients and prepare delicious culinary cuisine. My team and I are looking forward to seeing
The Club calendar is on the website with all of the golf, tennis and pickleball activities. We have also completed the entertainment calendar. We will kick-off our opening with St. Patrick?s Day dinner. Join us for delicious Irish classics such as Irish Soda Bread, Corned Beef and Cabbage, Spiced Lamb Meatballs and Salmon. In addition, there will be specialty Irish Cocktails available.
familiar faces and meeting the new members that have joined the Ridgewood family. We are here to make your dining experience exceptional. bon appétit!
Interest in membership is strong. Especially for this early in the season. We have eight prospective members currently on the wait list with another five in the application process. We are looking forward to a great 2022 season and having everyone to return to the Club.

News from t he Green Dave Kerr - Superint endent With spring just around the bend, the grounds crew is eager to get back onto the course to complete projects begun at the tail end of 2021. The recovery and expansion of the lost pin position rear right of the 5th green will stand out as the center piece of our Fall project initiative with a much improved putting experience for the 2022 golf season. While large equipment was on site, additional work was done clearing behind the green improving drainage and providing more forgiveness for errant shots long of the green. The finishing touches will be completed as soon as the ground can be worked with a mid-April opening planned. The next project on our spring schedule is the recontouring and addition of a stone wall and a few stairs rear of the 13th green to improve egress from the green to the 14th tees. After years of thought and discussion I believe we have designed a great solution to the steep sloped exit shy of a cumbersome and high maintenance staircase. Weather permitting, we
hope to complete the project by early May. You will also notice a ?new look? on several tee complexes ? notably #3, 5,7,8,11,14 & 18. We have used perimeter bluegrass to square off and re-align these badly misshapen tees. And lastly, the perennially wet area between the cartpath and the 14th pond was filled with excess material from the tree removal project to create higher ground for proper maintenance. The area will be recovered and hydroseeded as soon as the area can be graded. As for the condition of the greens, all good through mid-February. If we can avoid a thaw followed by a flash freeze in March we will have a successful start to the season. As usual, covers will come off late March / early April depending on the weather. We are really looking forward to the start of another active golf season! It is very rewarding to labor in an industry that is constantly developing new and innovative tools and materials to produce a more reliable and an ever improving playing experience.

Ladies' 9-Hole
We are excited to begin thinking about the 2022 Golf Season! Following another active and successful season last year, we welcome new members to join us. We are a fun, social group of ladies of varying golfing abilities. We golf on Tuesday mornings with a 9:30 shotgun start usually in threesomes. We alternate playing the front nine and the back nine on the course. We normally complete the round in about 2 hours, and most players stay for lunch on the patio afterwards. Although our official opening of the season isn?t until May, we will begin an informal preseason on Tuesday, April 12th, weather permitting. If you are interested in playing on any of the Tuesdays in April, please contact the pro shop in advance so that carts and bags can be organized, and then be ready-to-go at the flagpole by 9:20am. Our official Opening Day event is Tuesday, May 10th. This fun day will include breakfast, followed by a 9:30 shotgun start, and then a group luncheon and prizes. Please stay tuned for more details and sign-up information. Once the regular season begins, players will receive a weekly invitation to play via email which they can accept to sign up for the following Tuesday. The pro shop then puts together the playing groups and starting holes each week. Additional information on the schedule for the season and special events can be found on the Ridgewood Golf Calendar and will be posted on the 9-holer bulletin board in the Ladies? Locker Room. Come join us for fun, no pressure golf! Hope to see you on April 12th, Sheila Corr and Meg Riefberg

The Ladies Holiday Party is a member favorite and this year?s event did not disappoint. Chairwomen, Maura Fletcher, Liz Brestovansky, Renee McManus, and Sarah Cappelli, outdid themselves and not only put on a fun night for Ridgewood?s ladies, but provided an opportunity to benefit a local charity. Over $2700 in gift cards were collected for the Center of Empowerment and Education, along with a car load of toys.
an easy feat with 87 happy ladies), for the reading of Twas the Night Before Christmas? with a twist of passing the bag to left, to the right. At the poem?s end, the lucky bag holder traded for a prize. Ridgewood members should be proud of our wonderful camaraderie, and grateful for their generosity!
Members were greeted with flutes of Merry Berry prosecco upon entering. There was lots of mingling and jingling during the cocktail hour, along with gourmet passed hors d'oeuvres. Heads turned when the surprise guest took a seat at the piano. Who knew, that our very own golf pro, Justin Foster, was so talented! Bodies swayed and voices crooned to Holiday favorites. A full board Holiday feast was served family style at each table. The room was summoned for quiet, (not
