I am writing on behalf of my Mother, a resident of the Horizons Unit at Arbor Landing/Pawleys Island, SC. I know that if she were not compromised by Alzheimer’s disease, she would surely write this note herself, because she taught us that it’s important to convey a well-deserved compliment.
Ms. Bonnie McAuliffe, Activities Coordinator for Horizons at Pawleys Island, is making a tremendous difference in the lives of all memory care residents and deserves high praise. We have seen a significant improvement in the frequency and types of programs provided to loved ones like our Mom since day one of Bonnie’s arrival on the job, but that’s not all. Her compassion and caring are demonstrated through the unique events she plans and schedules, perfectly tailored to the needs of the folks she is serving...
...We now witness musicians, arts and crafts practitioners, and local students visiting the Horizons Unit as a result of Bonnie’s outreach, with her smile and seemingly boundless energy. If there is what appears to be a lull or downtime, we often catch Bonnie herself in the circle with the residents, encouraging them to move their arms and legs to the music she is playing.
Ridge Care is 100% correct when it states on its website that “We believe the right people make all the difference.” Employees like Bonnie are the right people, and should be retained and rewarded.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Janet C.

meaningful MOMENTS
I had the privilege of taking two of our wonderful residents, Pam Simmons and Kay Roach, to see “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.” at the Wilson Center in Wilmington. Pam has recently experienced the heartbreaking loss of her husband, and I wanted to do something special to make her smile and remind her of the outstanding person she is. Kay joined us for an afternoon of music, joy, and shared laughter, making it a truly meaningful and memorable experience for all of us. Moments like these remind me how important it is to create opportunities for connection and joy.

meaningful MOMENTS
Jackie is one of our Hampstead IL residents and she absolutely loves birds! She buys bird food weekly, and each day she goes around our building for a walk and to feed the birds. Many days she will come back and tell me all about the different types of birds she saw and how rare or common they are for our area. When I found the Guided Boat Bird Tour on the Cape Fear River, I knew she would love it!
I took her and two other residents on a two-hour tour with Wilmington Water Tours. We had a local bird specialist, Jill, who told us all about the birds we saw, the meaning behind their name, and facts about them.
Jackie smiled from ear to ear the entire trip and couldn’t wait to tell her family about the birds. She said she was an official bird watcher now and couldn’t stop thanking me for taking her!
