Meaningful Moments: Arbor Landing at Ocean Isle

Emma Jett Carteret Landing

This month the residents of Carteret Landing wish to highlight our Dietary Aide Emma Jett. Emma joined our team in February of this year. When speaking about Emma, our residents identified several actions which they feel does in a way that goes above and beyond. According to our residents, Emma is always able to help, trying to get anything for which they ask. She is also friendly in every interaction. Finally, according to one of our residents, Emma has a genuine smile when she is helping them, she can tell because Emma’s smile can be seen ever in her eyes.

Correen Townes

Housekeeping Director

Arbor Ridge at Huntersville

Correen is always willing to lend a hand in any department without the expectation of anything in return. She will shower a resident, serve them coffee, and do whatever it takes to ensure that their time at ARH is as pleasurable as possible.

In her role, she has faced staffing challenges, stepped in when necessary, treats her staff (and all staff) with courtesy and respect. She is very consistent. She supports our sales efforts by ensuring that every new move-in has a perfect room and although it is her job to prep a room, she goes above and beyond to ensure that it is a successful transition.

She has relationships with family members, along with coworkers and residents. I truly never receive housekeeping complaints and I find our building spotless. If there are any issues from the residents, it is never about her department, and I can honestly say that she is committed and dedicated to these folks. This is a team member who is truly here for the right reasons, and she is all heart.

meaningful MOMENTS

John Orant, a resident of Horizons at ALOI, grew up on Long Island, NY and loved to go fishing. He began fishing as a young boy, and his parents would take him out on their boat quite often.

Since fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, John was thrilled to go on a fishing adventure on June 10th. Afterwards John kept telling me how much he enjoyed the trip.

We began our day with breakfast at the Ocean Isle Beach pier grill, with John and four of his friends from Horizons. We were joined by Don, Wayne, Jenny and Kat from Compass Pointe, who fished with us. Everyone had a great time!

A quick thanks to Marta, the owner of OIB pier, who graciously provided complimentary fishing poles and bait for the guys. She also spent time chatting with our residents while we were drying off at the pier grill after the rain ended our fishing.

meaningful MOMENTS

Caroline’s Meaningful Moment was really a meaningful moment for us all. She wanted to share with us her collection of shells that she has been collecting from all over the world. These have come from the Philippines, Belize, Mexico, and right here in our own back yard at Ocean Isle, as well as many other places for well over 40 years.

She has the love of the ocean and of course the knowledge of the shells. We all learned amazing new things and she taught us about shells including the Crepidula Fornicata (also known as the Carrier Shell), Conch Shells, and more. Her love for these shells was evident, as was her love of sharing them with us.
