Meaningful Moments:

Arbor Ridge at Huntersville

I believe Kathy deserves more than just a spotlight on success moment. This woman goes above and beyond for the residents in our dementia unit and many of their faces light up as soon as they see her. She spends many of days planning out activities, baking with the residents, and many back porch days when there’s a nice breeze. She knows all of the residents on such a personal level whether it be their favorite activity or favorite food and always finds a way for all to feel included. She is always hands on anywhere whether it be with clinical staff, housekeeping duties and even kitchen help.

Carteret Landing Lori Pleasants

This month our residents would like to shine a spotlight on Lori Pleasants. Lori is a Med Tech who joined our team in June of 2021 and normally works overnights.

Carteret Landing’s residents wanted everyone to know how much they appreciate that Lori always greets them with excitement and a smile on her face. One resident said “even at 2 in the morning, Lori comes into my room in a good mood and smiles.”

Another resident shared they appreciate that they never feel Lori is in a hurry when she is with them. She takes lots of time with each person and makes them feel good.

Lori’s compassion, attentiveness and friendly attitude is why she is our spotlight on success.

meaningful MOMENTS

Arbor Ridge at Huntersville was so thrilled to be able to organize a beautiful vow renewal ceremony for several of our residents. Coordinated by Alima (Social DirectorHorizons) and Sarah (Social Director - Assisted Living), this event was so meaningful and we were so thankful to be able to do this for our residents and their families.

Four couples participated in this event:

• Tony and Carol Parton – Tony is very protective of his sweet wife and loves her immensely. When he speaks of her, he gets tears in his eyes. Carol is a very affectionate woman and loves to give Tony hugs and kisses. They were the first couple to walk down the aisle. She spoke loudly and with conviction when she said, “I will” and “I do”. They have been married for 56 years!

• Jim and Gloria Johnson – He is Independent Living and she is in Memory Care. Jim visits Gloria every day. He will sit on the couch and she will lay her head in his lap to take a short rest after she has showered him with hugs and kisses. Their love is powerful and fills Gloria’s heart with joy. They have been married over 11 years.

• Bob & Margie Howard – Bob lives in Independent Living and Margie is in Memory Care. Their love has been long and strong. Married over 65 years, they still act like teenagers in love. Bob visits Margie multiple times a day, brings her outside in the evenings for walks and takes her on mini dates to our Live Music with Happy Hour Socials. Margie wore a beautiful gown with long sleeves, sequin bodice and flowing satin.

• Doug & Barbara Greenlee – He is in Independent Living and she is in Memory Care. Doug always dotes on Barbara, visits her multiple times a day and takes her out for dinner in the Independent Living dining room every night. They are very much in love with one another. They have been married for 34 years. Barbara wore a long, beautiful veil and they were the last couple to walk down the aisle.
