POSITION: PITCHER | DOB: 4/21/98 | HEIGHT: 6’4” | WEIGHT: 200 HOMETOWN: HONEY BROOK, PA A major piece in the 2017 trade that sent Yu Darvish to the Dodgers in 2017, Alexy is coming off an injury-plagued 2019 campaign. The righty was an Organizational All-Star in 2018 with Hickory, owning a 3.58 ERA, before making just five starts two years ago. He enters 2021 as the No. 23 prospect in the system by MLB.com.
SHERTEN APOSTEL
POSITION: INFIELDER | DOB: 3/11/99 | HEIGHT: 6’4” | WEIGHT: 240 HOMETOWN: WILLEMSTAD, CURACAO Acquired by the Rangers in the Keone Kela trade to Pittsburgh in 2018, the bigbodied infielder made his major league debut on September 12, 2020 against Oakland. Apostel played in seven games for the Rangers before ending the season on the Injured List with back tightness. A certified power hitter, the Curacao native hit 19 home runs over 121 games between Hickory and Down East in 2019.
JAX BIGGERS
POSITION: INFIELDER | DOB: 4/7/97 | HEIGHT: 5’11” | WEIGHT: 175 HOMETOWN: MISSOURI CITY, TX Biggers, who skipped High-A to start 2021 with the RoughRiders, hit .282/.369/.353 with Hickory in 2019. An eighth-round selection of the Rangers in 2018, Biggers spent two seasons at the University of Arkansas, helping the Razorbacks reach the College World Series Finals in 2018. In 2017, he was a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award, given to the country’s best shortstop.
NOAH BREMER
POSITION: PITCHER | DOB: 5/13/96 | HEIGHT: 6’5” | WEIGHT: 206 HOMETOWN: BERKELEY, CA A University of Washington product, Bremer dominated in his 14 starts in 2019, going 3-0 with a 2.97 ERA for the High-A Down East Wood Ducks. The righty has a career 3.44 ERA in the minors. At UW, Bremer was named the All-Pac-12 team three times, going 16-11 with a 2.88 ERA over 47 games, 40 being starts.
TIM BRENNAN
POSITION: PITCHER | DOB: 12/18/96 | HEIGHT: 6’4” | WEIGHT: 212 HOMETOWN: PHILADELPHIA, PA Brennan was drafted by the Rangers out of his hometown St. Joseph’s University (Philadelphia, Pa.) in the seventh round of the 2018 draft. Between High-A Down East and Low-A Hickory in 2019, he went 11-6 with a 3.84 ERA, walking just 14 batters in 124.1 IP. Among those who threw at least 70 innings in the Low-A South Atlantic League, Brennan was tied for the lowest walk rate (2.9%).

POSITION: PITCHER | DOB: 9/15/98 | HEIGHT: 6’5” | WEIGHT: 210 HOMETOWN: DANA POINT, CA A former second-round pick of the Rangers in 2017, Crouse was the consensus top-pitching prospect in the Rangers system in 2019. After going 6-1 with a 4.41 ERA with Hickory that season, he is still considered a top-10 Rangers prospect. The Dana Hills, Calif. native is known for stopping and starting during his windup to throw off hitters’ timing.
RYAN DOROW
POSITION: INFIELDER | DOB: 8/21/95 | HEIGHT: 6’0” | WEIGHT: 195 HOMETOWN: SOUTH HAVEN, MI One of two returning RoughRiders from 2019 (pitcher Tyler Phillips being the other), Dorow is known for his defensive prowess in the infield. In 2018, he won the Rangers Minor League Defender of the Year Award. After attending D3 Adrian College, Dorow became the first player drafted from Adrian since 1974.
SCOTT ENGLER
POSITION: PITCHER | DOB: 12/12/96 | HEIGHT: 6’4” | WEIGHT: 220 HOMETOWN: WICHITA, KS Engler was a huge part of the 2019 Down East Wood Ducks dominant pitching staff, going 3-1 with a 1.91 ERA over 21 games with 58 strikeouts in 42.1 IP. Before getting the call to High-A, he had a ridiculous 39.5% K-rate over 14 games out of the bullpen for Hickory, which was third in the league.
JOE GATTO
POSITION: PITCHER | DOB: 6/14/95 | HEIGHT: 6’3” | WEIGHT: 220 HOMETOWN: VOORHEES, NJ Signed as a minor league free agent after his contract expired with the Angels organization, Gatto pitched part of each of the last two seasons in Double-A Mobile. While he started he did not pitch a single game out of the bullpen above Rookie Ball from 2014 to 2018, Gatto exclusively threw from the ‘pen in 2019, going 5-4 with a 4.80 ERA.
ELIER HERNANDEZ
POSITION: OUTFIELDER | DOB: 11/21/94 | HEIGHT: 6’3” | WEIGHT: 200 HOMETOWN: SAN CRISTOBAL, D.R. A veteran of the minors, Hernandez spent eight seasons with the Royals organization, including making the Texas League Mid-Season All-Star Team in 2018 as a member of the Northwest Arkansas. After signing a MiLB Free Agent deal over the offseason, he started 2021 in Triple-A Round Rock.
JAKE HOOVER
POSITION: INFIELDER | DOB: 7/11/97 | HEIGHT: 5’11” | WEIGHT: 180 HOMETOWN: ARMADA, MI Hoover starred at DII Hillsdale College, hitting .370 his junior year with 30 extra bases and 21 stolen bases. That drew a selection by the Rangers in the 28th round of the 2019 draft. After playing a majority of 2019 in Short-Season Low-A Spokane, he began 2021 with Triple-A Round Rock before joining Frisco.
JOE KUZIA
POSITION: PITCHER | DOB: 11/21/94 | HEIGHT: 6’5” | WEIGHT: 190 HOMETOWN: SEYMOUR, CN Kuzia spent two seasons out of the bullpen for St. Johns and went undrafted in 2015. After playing independent baseball for two years, he was signed by the Rangers in 2017. In 2019, Kuzia went 4-2 with a 1.51 ERA over 37 games with High-A Down East. His brother, Nick, pitches for the San Antonio Missions.

POSITION: PITCHER | DOB: 4/8/96 | HEIGHT: 6’3” | WEIGHT: 200 HOMETOWN: LEMONT, IL Latz had just about the best possible start to the 2019 season before an elbow sprain ended his season prematurely. The lefty went 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA in two starts with the Crawdads and then started 5-1 over 11 starts with a 1.76 ERA in Down East before the injury derailed his campaign on June 23rd.

POSITION: OUTFIELDER | DOB: 3/21/96 | HEIGHT: 5’9” | WEIGHT: 180 HOMETOWN: BARACOA, CUBA One of the top talents in the 2018 international sphere, Martinez has been playing professional-level baseball since he was 16 in Cuba. A blend of speed and power, Martinez hit 15 home runs and stole 28 bases in 2019 between Down East and Hickory.
SAL MENDEZ
POSITION: PITCHER | DOB: 2/25/95 | HEIGHT: 6’4” | WEIGHT: 185 HOMETOWN: WEEHAWKEN, NJ A 40th-rounder out of Weehawken High School in New Jersey, Mendez put together back-to-back strong seasons, owning a 2.85 ERA in 2018 and 2.37 ERA in 2019. While mostly out of the bullpen, Mendez filled in as a starter as well, making 24 starts out of 58 total games in the two years.
FERNERY OZUNA
POSITION: PITCHER | DOB: 11/9/95 | HEIGHT: 5’9” | WEIGHT: 190 HOMETOWN: NIGUA, DR One of the more interesting stories on the 2021 Riders, Ozuna was originally signed as an infielder by the Diamondbacks in 2012 and was released in 2018. Two months later, the Rangers picked him up and tried to move him to the mound, after just throwing 12 innings, he had to have “Tommy John” surgery and has returned with a triple-digits fastball.
TYLER PHILLIPS
POSITION: PITCHER | DOB: 10/27/97 | HEIGHT: 6’5” | WEIGHT: 230 HOMETOWN: LUMBERTON, NJ The lone returner to Frisco on the mound, Phillips joined the RoughRiders midway through 2019 after a strong start in Down East, going 2-1 with a 1.19 ERA in six starts. With the Riders, the former 16th-round selection went 7-9 with a 4.73 ERA in 18 games, 16 starts. The New Jersey native threw 131.0 innings over the course of the year.
JORDAN PROCYSHEN
POSITION: CATCHER | DOB: 3/11/93 | HEIGHT: 5’10” | WEIGHT: 185 HOMETOWN: CALGARY, CAN Pronounced pro-SESH-en, the 28-year-old has seen plenty of action over his six seasons in professional baseball. Originally drafted by the Red Sox in the 14th round of the 2014 draft out of Northern Kentucky, Procyshen spent five seasons in the Boston organization before heading to the Dodgers’ High-A and Double-A in 2019.
YERRY RODRIGUEZ
POSITION: PITCHER | DOB: 10/15/97 | HEIGHT: 6’2” | WEIGHT: 210 HOMETOWN: SANTIAGO, DR The No. 19 prospect in the system by MLB.com, Rodriguez was older than most international prospects when he was signed at 18 years old, but has flashed a fastball in the upper-90s and a deadly slider. In 2019, he dominated in his 13 starts, going 7-3 with a 2.08 ERA while striking out 85 in 73.2 IP.

POSITION: OUTFIELDER | DOB: 6/9/98 | HEIGHT: 6’2” | WEIGHT: 200 HOMETOWN: JACKSONVILLE, FL A first-round pick of the Rangers in 2017, Thompson is known for his incredible speed and athleticism. Thompson has swiped 44 bases over 141 games since the start of 2018. The outfielder was committed to the University of Alabama for baseball before he signed with the Rangers.

POSITION: OUTFIELDER | DOB: 7/30/96 | HEIGHT: 5’11” | WEIGHT: 210 HOMETOWN: PROSPER, TX The Prosper, Texas native grew up going to RoughRiders games. Acquired from the White Sox in 2019 in exchange for former Riders outfielder Nomar Mazara, Walker was a standout at Oklahoma, where he was teammates with current Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. At Prosper High School, Walker took home a state title on the diamond while winning Dallas Morning News Player of the Year honors.
DAVIS WENDZEL
POSITION: INFIELDER | DOB: 5/23/97 | HEIGHT: 6’0” | WEIGHT: 205 HOMETOWN: IRVINE, CA A former Baylor Bear, Wendzel has only seen seven games of minor league action since being picked in the first round of the 2019 draft due to a thumb injury he sustained in college. The No. 8 prospect in the Rangers system per MLB.com had a wonderful college career at Baylor, taking home 2019 All-American honors and sharing the 2019 Big 12 Player of the Year Award with fellow Rangers farmhand Josh Jung.
MATT WHATLEY
POSITION: CATCHER | DOB: 1/7/96 | HEIGHT: 5’9” | WEIGHT: 200 HOMETOWN: CLAREMORE, OK Whatley is widely known as one of the best defensive catchers in the Rangers system and that culminated in the 2019 Texas Rangers Minor League Defender of the Year Award. The Oklahoma native excelled in college at Oral Roberts University as well, taking home the Johnny Bench Award in 2017 as the nation’s best catcher. Oral Roberts University also produced Rangers and former RoughRiders catcher Jose Trevino.

POSITION: PITCHER | DOB: 11/25/99 | HEIGHT: 6’2” | WEIGHT: 200 HOMETOWN: LONGMONT, CO A native of Longmont, Colorado, Winn won the Colorado High School Gatorade Player of the Year award his junior season before his family moved to California for his senior year. At Orange Lutheran High in California, he was the California version of the same award before being selected 15th overall by the Rangers in 2018. Winn threw just 68.2 innings with Hickory in 2019 before making his Double-A debut in 2021.
