by Jimmy Quail On the subject of safety, group chairman Ola Grinaker himseli plays a most meaningful part and en co u rages the

efforts ol his safety oflicers. To illustrale the progress made, Grinaker Transvaal has had a most successful salely campaiqn over the last few years. For the period July 1977 to June 1978 the
losl time lrequency raie was 9,23. From July 1978 io July 1979 it was 1,72 and itom July 1979 to June 1980 it was 4,81 From July 1980 to June 1981 the rale was 5.53 and up to the end of April 1982 it came down 10 3,93. ln recognition of these eflorts the National Occupational Safety Association has awarded the cornpany its Company Honour Betterment awards 10r the years 1980 and 1981. But from a purely iinancial angle the Workmen's Compensation Commissioner has made a maximum lifty per cent merit rebate for ihe years 1977, 1978 and 1979. Also, when
req !ested lor consideration under Section 71 of the Work, rfen s Compensaiion Act, he agreed to a twenty-f ve per cent reduction /n the assessment rale. These savings amount to con siderable sums ol money and represenl the practical aspect of accident prevention.
