Freeport Rec Center
Located at 130 E. Merrick Road, the Freeport Recreation Center serves as a beacon of the community.
Although it had been closed due to the pandemic in the spring and summer of 2020, the center was able to reopen in September while continuing to adhere to state regulations regarding the use of masks and social distancing.
The center houses the village’s ice rink, swimming pools and fitness center for members to use. The fitness center is equipped with cardio machines, free weights and benches.
The center will be holding various 10-class swimming courses at the center this summer for children of all ages. Private swim lessons can also be scheduled with certified instructors.
Unlike last year, the center will be hosting a summer camp on a first-come, first-served basis. The center runs half-day and full-day programs that include swimming, sports, arts & crafts, playground time, ice skating and other events. The half-day programs runs from 9 a.m. to noon, and the full-day program from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Kiddie Club preschool program will also return to the center in September for children ages three to four. The club will provide fun activities for the kids at the center.
Though the Recreation Center welcomes everyone, registration and membership are required to take full advantage of most of the programs and amenities at the center. Memberships are available in summer, half-year and annual increments.
