As midnight approached on election night, Republicans in Nassau County-wide races were inching toward a GOP sweep. As the Herald went to press on Tuesday, all of the legislative districts that encompass Wantagh were overwhelmingly red. In the 19th District, incumbent Steve Rhoads defeated challenger Jacob Schuster with 72 percent of the vote, or 12,175 votes total. Schuster garnered 27 percent of the vote. “I’m extremely grateful that the people of the 19th District continue to place their confidence in me,” Rhoads said.“I’m going to work every single day to earn that trust and confidence.” Republican John Ferretti will take the seat in District 15, after collecting 75 percent of the vote against his opponent, Matthew Malin, who received 30 percent.
