Oceanside High School inducted nine new members into its Circle of Pride in a ceremony at the school on Nov. 8. It was the ninth ceremony since 2003 to highlight members of the school’s athletic teams for their contributions to their sport beyond their high school years. This year’s inductees were Samantha Cesario Kramer, Eddie Curry, the DiDominica family, Bobby Farb, Kelly Farrell, Brian Hennessy, Andy

Morris, Richie Woods and the gymnastics teams that captured six consecutive county championships. Samantha Cesario Kramer skated for the first time at a friend’s birthday party when she was 6. During her time at OHS, she competed in international figure skating events, and won the 2010 Gardena Spring Trophy in Italy. She competed in several other inter national tour naments before retiring in 2015. Eddie Curry was inducted posthumously into this year’s Continued on page 3

Oceanside Scholarship Fund helps graduating seniors By KEpHERd daNiEl kdaniel@liherald.com

The Oceanside Scholarship Fund recently held its Kids Helping Kids annual fundraiser to aid the community’s graduating seniors in financial need. The fund has been helping seniors in the Oceanside School District for more than 70 years.

This year, Scholarship Fund volunteers sent out fliers throughout the community to gather donations for seniors in need. Oceanside High School seniors volunteered to help the fund distribute them. More than 20 Oceanside High students prepared the fliers on Oct. 18 and 19 to be mailed throughout the community, and

students were given community service hours from the school. Those looking to donate can mail a donation to the Scholarship Fund or send donations through Venmo, using @OceansideScholarshipFund, or through PayPal, to oceansidescholarshiptreasurer@gmail.com. Many Scholarship Fund members have been a part of the

committee for over five years, and some for over 10 years. The members include Eric Abbey, Joan Calabro, Kevin Carbonetti, Robin Esposito, Fran Gallin, Joan Hiland, Sarah Mazeika, Cookie Paczkowski, Michele Pitowsky, Pat Roth and Sandie Schoell. Paczkowski, the fund president, discussed past fundraisers the scholarship fund has

held. “We’ve been doing this for a long time,” Paczkowski said. “When the seniors graduate, anyone who’s in financial need can apply through our organization, and at the end of the year, we give out the awards.” When the applications come in, fund volunteers look through Continued on page 12
