Oceanside Middle School student Isabella Esposito said she is constantly looking for activities to add to her busy schedule. She has been an honor student for her two

years at the school, but this year she wanted to balance her academics with a sport. Ever in search of a challenge, Esposito tried football as the only female team member. In a year of remote learning requiring Isabella to stare at screens all day, the eighth-

grader was driven to mix things up with her extracurricular activities. So, this spring, she got her first taste of organized football. Covid-19 restrictions made it so that a shortened six-week season entirely comprised Continued on page 15
