As Americans ponder the quality of the nation’s civic discourse, the nature of its presidency and the future of its political experiment, Long Island University Post and Tweed Roosevelt, a great-grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt, are joining forces to upgrade the uni-

versity’s curriculum in international relations, diplomacy, leadership and public policy. On Feb. 18, Post officials announced the creation of the Roosevelt School, which will open this fall. The school, named for Theodore and Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, will prepare undergraduate and graduate students for careers in international relations, diplomacy, leader-

ship, service and policy making at multinational corporations, foundations, think tanks, nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies around the world. “It will be focused on research in international policy, diplomacy and ethical leadership,” Tweed said. “Eleanor was interested in human rights and social CONTINUED ON PAGE 3
