The East Rockaway Board of Education recognized Susan Torborg as its October ‘Hometown Hero’ during the Nov. 14 board meeting. Torborg has served as an office clerk, a lunch monitor, a security guard, an athletic supervisor and more during her decades-long career with the district. Now a grandmother of 8, she retired earlier this year — but still comes into the office to help out.

She’s a jack of all trades.” When she’s not in the office, Torborg has CONTiNuEd ON pagE 19
