Lynbrook Police Chief Brian Paladino and longtime Lynbrook firefighter Cathy Bien were named Man and Woman of the Year for 2021 at last month’s Lynbrook village board meeting. “They’re both perfect recipients and dedicated village residents,” Mayor Alan Beach said, “and it’s an honor to have them in our village.”
Residents select nominees for the Man and Woman of the Year, which Beach said is finalized by a committee comprising village officials and employees. Paladino was named chief on Nov. 30, 2018, and has implemented many new measures since then. He has, for example, increased the frequency with which officers visit schools and houses of worship, and meet with residents in their neighborhoods. He took the reins as chief
from Joseph Neve, who retired in November 2018 after 27 years on the job. Paladino made the department paperless by using roll call software to communicate with o f f i c e r s d i g i t a l ly, a n d h e increased the use of data analysis to understand better where and how to deploy officers.
