Get ready to make your heart race Valentine’s Day-themed 5K, 10K come to E.M. By KATE NAlEpINSKI aseidman@liherald.com

Runners looking for love in the season of Valentines may want to sign up for the Stoplight Party 5K and 10K races at Eisenhower Park on Feb. 20. The themed races are being presented by Elitefeats, an Islandiabased race promoter that has hosted nearly 50 events since last August. Event coordinator Joe Meyer

said the races have been in the works for well over a year. Since Elitefeats’ Cupid’s Chase 5K was canceled last December, the team was eager to organize a series of so-called stoplight races. At stoplight events, participants wear different colors indicating their relationships status. “There’s not many gatherings right now,” Meyer said, “so we thought it’d be great to create a safe winter race together.” Registered participants will

receive a bib in the mail with their information and relationship status — “single,” “taken” or “undecided” — to wear as they run through Eisenhower Park. They will also receive Stoplight Party-branded buffs and, after the races, finisher’s medals. The funds raised through registration will be donated to the Never Stop Running Foundation, a nonprofit that supports athletContinued on page 3
