Memorial Day Parades, 2024 The Babylon American Legion Post #94, in cooperation with the Village of Babylon will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade on May 27. The parade will start at 11 a.m at Foster Boulevard and Deer Park Avenue and proceed south on Deer Park Avenue to Montauk Highway, then west to the Argyle Park Bandshell, where ceremonies will be held. Upon conclusion of ceremonies, refreshments will be served at Babylon Post #94, at 22 Grove Place. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. In the event of inclement weather, the services for those who have fallen will be held in the Main Hall of Post 94. Grand Marshal is surviving Korean War Veteran Thomas Aloisi. The day of remembrance will begin at 10 a.m. with congruent ceremonies by the VFW at Breslau Cemetery and the Lindenhurst Fire Department (LFD) at Fireman’s Memorial Park. Then the VFW will march west on Newark Street, turn south on Delaware Avenue, and turn west on Charles Street to meet up with the LFD and other parade participants at Fireman’s Memorial Park. From there, at 11 a.m., the parade will head west on Hartford Street, turn south on North Wellwood Avenue, make a brief stop on South Wellwood Avenue to lay a wreath at the WWI Memorial, and continue to Village Hall, 430 South Wellwood Avenue, where a Memorial Day Observance will take place at approximately 12 p.m. Marching with Veterans organizations and the Lindenhurst Fire Department, will be elected officials, the Lindenhurst High School and Middle School marching bands and Junior ROTC, and many local civic organizations and community groups. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the event as Lindenhurst honors and remembers the brave men and women who died in the performance of their military duties while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Note, in the event of rain, the parade will be cancelled and ceremonies will be held at the Lindenhurst Fire Department Main House, 225 South Wellwood Avenue, at 10 a.m. WEST ISLIP The Town of Islip and the American Legion Post #1738 are hosting the annual Memorial Day Parade, Mon., May 27. Line up starts on Higbie Lane, one block south of Sunrise Highway, and proceeds south to the intersection of Udall Road where a prayer service will be held. The parade then moves to the Paul J. Bellew Dchool, 25 Higbie Lane where ceremonies, including the presentation of wreaths, will be held. American Legion and public officials will speak and then everyone is invited to the Legion at 340 Union Blvd., West Islip for hot dogs and refreshments.
