Babylon Village lights up for the holidays By CAROLYN JAMES cjames@liherald.com

Babylon Village’s newly decorated Christmas tree lit up Argyle Park on Sunday, Dec. 7, drawing a large crowd for an evening of hot cocoa, roasted marshmallows, music and holiday festivities. The event was hosted by the Village of Babylon and the Babylon Historical & Preservation Society, which also held its annual Wassail Bowl following the tree lighting. Ceremonies were led by Wayne Horsley, a village resident and vice president of the society. He thanked attendees for braving the cold and introduced Mayor Mary Adams, along with village employees who decorated the tree. Performances included singers

from the Argyle Theatre and members of the Babylon High School band. “This Christmas tree lighting was extra special and certainly left a twinkle in everyone’s hearts,” said Mayor Adams. “After over 25 years, the lights were replaced and thousands of gorgeous new lights adorned our Village Christmas tree. Hundreds of Village residents, guests and children shared in all the festivities and illuminated that the Village of Babylon truly is from a Hallmark movie.” Adams introduced young RJ Cabano, a village resident who helped run the annual Snapper Derby this year and was a regular presence on Fishing Fridays, helping youngsters learn how to fish.
