As we welcome a new season, The Long Beach Chamber of Commerce wishes you a joyful spring and an exciting, fun-filled 2025 beach season.
Our Long Beach community is truly special — vibrant, resilient, and constantly evolving in ways that benefit both residents and local businesses. At the Chamber, we’re proud to be part of that growth every step of the way. Whether it’s producing a “Meet the Candidates” video to help voters make informed decisions, sharing updates on available government and private grants, co-sponsoring the installation of a new “Welcome” sign to the city, or bringing back your favorite boardwalk fairs — we’re always working to support and uplift our community.
The Chamber’s core mission is to promote and advocate for Long Beach’s businesses. We ensure their voices are heard by city leaders and beyond. Through our monthly General Membership Networking meetings, our e-newsletter and our online platforms, we keep both residents and businesses informed on topics that matter — like beautification projects, grant opportunities, environmental issues, public safety, parking, and the city’s budget.
a great place to live by hosting community events like our upcoming outdoor Vendor Fair on the boardwalk and founding events like the beloved Electric Light Parade. Additionally, we promote community favorites such as Porch Fest, Arts in the Plaza, free summer movies and concerts on the beach, and the weekly Farmers Market at Kennedy Plaza.
We're very proud of our City by the Sea. There’s something for everyone here— whether it’s biking along our iconic 2.5-mile boardwalk, enjoying live music at local venues, catching an art exhibit at the Long Beach Public Library, or surfing the waves at our world-class beach. Life in LBNY is full of experiences, and the Chamber is committed to making sure those experiences continue to grow and thrive.
We also invest directly in the success of our business community. Last year alone, the Chamber dedicated over $20,000 to TV, print and digital media campaigns to promote local businesses throughout Long Beach.
But our work goes beyond advocacy and outreach. We also strive to bring people together and celebrate what makes Long Beach such
As we look ahead, the Chamber and our dedicated volunteer Board of Directors remain focused on supporting Long Beach as the best place to live, work eat, shop and play on Long Island. We invite you to be part of it! Subscribe to our free e-newsletter, visit our website, follow us on social media, and join us at our General Meetings — usually held on the third Monday of each month. Better yet, become a member of the Chamber and help shape the future of our amazing city.
Together, we can continue building a stronger, more vibrant Long Beach. When our city thrives, we all do.
Warm regards, Board of Directors, The Long Beach Chamber

Long Beach is a home to many and a fun getaway to many more. It’s a lively community with a wide range of events year-round. Concerts, festivals, sporting events and more fill the calendar — with many on the beach and boardwalk — giving people endless choices and chances to indulge. Here are five beach park events you won’t want to miss throughout the year!
Perhaps Long Beach’s biggest sporting event each and every year, the Michelle O’Neill Volleyball Tournament brings thousands to the Laurelton Blvd. beach for fierce, yet friendly, competition. The tournament has been a staple in the city for nearly 30 years, since Carol O’Neill started the tournament after her daughter, Michelle, died from cancer in 1996 at age 24. The games act as a fundraiser to benefit children with cancer and special needs. This year’s tournament will be on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025.
Love movies? Love the beach? If you said yes to either — or both — of those questions, then you’ll love the International Film Festival in Long Beach! The annual event brings filmmakers from all over the country to Long Beach to showcase their work. The “shorts on the beach” event on the sand outside the Allegria Hotel introduces viewers to a unique watching experience, with the short films ranging from animation to liveaction clips. This year’s Long Beach International Film Festival takes place from Wednesday, July 23, to Saturday, July 26, 2025.
When you think about the beach, you think summer. However, one of Long Beach’s biggest events — the Polar Bear Splash — takes to the beach in the winter. Every February, thousands of community members near and far gather on the sand and take a dip in the freezing ocean. The splash is more than a test of fortitude, though, as the chilly event acts as the biggest community fundraiser for Make-AWish. The cold plunges started all the way back in 1998, with it only getting bigger each year. The Polar Bear Splash takes place every year, on the second Sunday of February.
Beach park isn’t just the sand; it’s also the beautiful 2.2-mile boardwalk. The boardwalk is constantly crowded with runners, walkers, bikers, families and friends, going to and from the beach and nearby eateries. It’s also been home to a unique event for over 40 years: the Arts & Crafts Festival. For two days, the boards are filled with vendors and local businesses selling artwork, clothing, food and gifts. Whatever you’re looking for, you’re sure to find it at the festival. This year’s festival takes place on Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13, 2025.
Long Beach and surfing are synonymous. No matter the time of year, you can see surfers of all levels — from beginner to professional — bringing their boards and wetsuits down to ride some waves. There are numerous surfing events, too, but one that stands out is the King and Queen of the Beach competition. All surfers 17 and under can apply to compete. This year, on Sept. 7, 2025, the contest will happen again, with two new young surfers ready to be crowned.
Arts In The Plaza is Long Beach's weekly arts festival. Featuring handcrafted art and live music, the spirit of Long Beach is celebrated every Saturday at this inspired outdoor community event.
Located in the center of town at Kennedy Plaza, Arts in the Plaza takes place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a season that runs between May 24 and Oct. 25. That means there is ample time to enjoy Arts in the Plaza again and again.
No matter what the occasion, Arts in the Plaza is the place to shop. Find one-of-a-kind gifts for yourself and your loved ones at this exclusively handcrafted market.
The epitome of shopping local and supporting small businesses, every booth is an opportunity to connect with a local artist. Find creations in myriad media including photography, jewelry, painting, drawing, wood,
glass, mixed media, clothing, accessories, and home decor.
Live music can be enjoyed throughout the day. An eclectic and exciting lineup of performances are presented in both the morning and afternoon.
It’s always a beautiful day at Arts in the Plaza. Whether you stop by to stroll around, bring the whole family for the day, shop, listen to music, or have pleasant conversations with friends old and new, Arts In The Plaza is sure to please.
Visit ArtsInThePlaza.com for more info, including how to join as an artist or a sponsor.
Arts In The Plaza is built on love.
Love of art. Love of music. Love of community. Love of Long Beach.
The Long Beach Soup Kitchen has been serving the community for over 40 years, providing hot and cold meals six days a week. It operates from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Monday through Saturday, on West Pine Street. A to-go meal option is also offered for families and individuals who may not feel comfortable dining in.
And, they’re always looking for help. There are a few ways to support the soup kitchen. Donations of canned goods and non-perishables are always needed. You can also organize your own donation drive! Or, you can become a volunteer. A weekly commitment is required, but all interested would go through an orientation to learn all about the soup kitchen! To find out more about organizing a donation drive, email Jeanne Hoenig at JKHoenig33@ gmail.com, and to learn more about volunteering, email Nicole Rieger at NickyRieger@gmail.com.

Long Beach is chock full of opportunities to get involved in the community. There are programs, groups, events, and organizations that are constantly looking for members and volunteers. Whether you just want to get more active in community groups or give back, there are plenty of options at hand.
Here are three ways to get involved or give back to the community:
Long Beach is a beachside community with a unique coastal ecosystem. Long Beach Cleanup, a volunteer group aiming to keep the community clean, is trying to preserve that. The group sends out weekly emails to its volunteers on when and where to meet for each cleanup, and provides all the supplies needed. Throughout their time keeping the city’s beaches pristine, Long Beach Cleanup has had over 16,000 volunteers and has removed over 11,500 pounds of trash. Interested in volunteering? Sign up on the group’s website, LBCleanup.com.You can also donate cleaning supplies at the start of each cleanup.
The Long Beach Lions Club which is part of an international organization that is very active on Long Island, with chapters in many villages, towns and cities has 40 members of their own that constantly do charitable work. The club constantly holds events throughout each year, raising money for various people and groups. The foundation helps cover the cost of attending post-high school, undergraduate and career and technical education programs for the children of those in the military.
As a member of the Lions Club, you can help your community and gain valuable skills. You could make an impact on people’s lives, learn to be a leader and lead a respected organization, network with business men and women in your community and Lions around the world, energize your life and have fun. To become a member, visit the group’s website at LongBeachLionsClub.org, attend one of the twice-monthly meetings, or email directly at Info@longbeachlionsclub. org.

Kennedy Plaza is more than just the area of trees, grass and benches in front of City Hall. It’s also a home to many Long Beach events, offering the space for so much of the community to gather for a fun time.
Events range from concerts and festivals to arts and crafts. Whatever interests you; Kennedy Plaza is sure to host it at some point. Here are three Kennedy Plaza events that are worth checking out.
This is a big one. Each October, Kennedy Plaza becomes a land of hay, rides, arts and crafts, and other fall staples. The annual Fall Festival is truly a Long Beach tradition, and the community gets excited for this one.
The weekend’s centerpiece is the pumpkin patch, which takes over the plaza’s center fountain pool. The patch is filled with hundreds and hundreds of pumpkins, and children and families go in all day, leaving with their pumpkins of choice. There's more than just actual pumpkins, though. There is also a pumpkin-shaped bounce house, carousel, hay wagon ride, and swinging chairs.
Oh, and the next day, children put on a cool costume parade.
Vivienne DePalma and Alice Vordermeier
Shortly after the Fall Festival, Kennedy Plaza becomes completely spooky. Arts in the Plaza is every Saturday, offering vendors and crafts to check out and buy, but at the end of October, it becomes Halloween in the Plaza.
Children and families come in costumes and have a blast at the annual Halloween bash. Folks dress as movie characters, comic book heroes and other popular culture icons. Children take part in another costume parade and dance party, showing off their fashion and dancing skills. Families also trick-or-treat all around the plaza, picking up some tasty and sugary treats.
National Night Out isn’t a Long Beach-specific event, but Long Beach’s is definitely its own. There’s music, hot dogs, popcorn, a bouncy ride for the kids, and good vibes all around.
Every August during National Night Out, the City of Long Beach and the Long Beach Police Department take the opportunity to honor an individual, a group, or a department for their outstanding community service by presenting them with a plaque. The recognition was given to the city’s sanitation department in 2024.
The event includes food, crafts, bounce houses, giveaways, entertainment, and more activities for attendees to enjoy. Participants have the chance to connect with local police officers. Additionally, they can visit various tables from different organizations in the area to access information about the variety of services that each organization provides.
Energetic and full of enthusiasm, Karla Grasso will guide you through the process of a real estate transaction with a gentle hand. The Long Beach boardwalk is special to the city, offering the community a unique aspect to enjoy. Residents can walk, ride bikes and jog, doing whatever they want to utilize it.
The boards are also home to many races throughout the year, no matter the season. In the spring, the summer, the fall and the winter, people line up on the boardwalk, waiting for the starting signal. Here are some races to check out, one per season.
Each Memorial Day weekend, the City of Long Beach hosts the City Manager’s Race to Remember, a 10-mile run at the end of May. The race is in the memory of its founder, Ralph Kaplan.
The route has runners start on West Park Avenue and look back to finish on the boardwalk. There are a plethora of age categories, offering many the opportunity to place and win. Whatever your age is, this is a nice run in the warm springtime.
The Fourth of July is synonymous with warm summer nights and fireworks. But in Long Beach, the Fabulous 4th of July 4K is also a staple. The race is in memory of Sgt. Sean Ryan. Along with the main event, there is also a children’s 1K at 8 a.m. just before the 4K a half hour later. Both races begin and end on the boardwalk at Laurelton Boulevard. Awards are given to the top three finishers in each age group.
Perhaps the most well known race in Long Beach, the Turkey Trot has been taking over the boards for nearly 20 years. No matter the time of year, you can find people walking around in their Turkey Trot shirts.
The event takes place right around Thanksgiving, and features a 10K and a 1K race. The 1K begins just before the 10K, at the start of the boardwalk on Grand Avenue, and goes all the way down to Neptune Boulevard before looping on Broadway and finishing back on the boards. The Turkey Trot is an all-around fun family event.
Long Beach Snowflake Race brings folks out of their homes, heading into the cold.
Grab some warm clothes and get ready to run, because each winter, the 4-mile Snowflake Race braves the chill. The race, which is in honor of Joseph F. Farrell, brings a cold yet rewarding race to an early winter morning.
Weather permitting of course the run starts on the boardwalk at Grand Boulevard. The top three finishers in each age group earn awards, so get ready to defy the temps, and lace up those running shoes.

he Long Beach Public Library is a hub for all sorts of activities, groups and experiences.
The library has three branches — the main branch in the center of town, one in the West End and one in Point Lookout — and each offer unique and fun things to do. Whether its dancing, learning or just watching a movie, there’s something for everyone. Here are some of the many offerings you can take part in at the library:
Each Friday, the library dims the auditorium lights and starts rolling a film for anyone in the community to enjoy. Movies range from lighter, familyoriented showings to more mature topics. Check the calendar, bring the family, grab a snack, get comfortable and enjoy a free night out at the movies.
Residents can partake of many different health and fitness classes,
One of the major celebrations is for the Lunar New Year.
including numerous yoga sessions. There’s yoga for health and peace, chair yoga, Pilates, low-impact cardio, meditative dance and Zumba classes, among others. The classes make it so it’s not just good for you, but fun as well. Many even offer a hybrid option, meaning you can workout with the group in the comfort of your own home.
Do you like to collect things? Do you like to knit or crochet? Do you like to play games? If you responded ‘yes’ to any of those questions, then there's a club for you. Not only does the library have seemingly endless options of clubs to join, but they are availble for all ages. Kids can join ones such as the Lego club, Pokémon trading card club and a drawing club. Teens and adults can join book clubs, retro gamers clubs, vinyl record collector clubs, and those for games like chess and canasta.
The City of Long Beach holds festivals and celebrations year-round, and the library is no different. Different cultures and interests are brought into the spotlight numerous times throughout the year, immersing everyone in new worlds.
One of the major celebrations at the library each year is for the Lunar New Year. Costumes, music and dance fill the room for a fun celebration. Events such as poetry festivals, jazz festivals and art expos are also on the yearly calendar.

From the East End to the West End, Long Beach is filled with fun and unique restaurants. There’s everything from Mexican cuisine to Italian, from casual to upscale. Whatever the mood is or whatever the craving, there’s certainly something in town for everyone.
With so many options to pick from, it may seem like there’s too many, making it hard to choose. If that’s the case, don’t fret, because here are some eateries in Long Beach of interest.
If you haven’t been to The Cabana yet, you’ve probably at least heard of it. The Mexican-American restaurant has a real Long Beach vibe to it, with surfboards decorating the inside, and the outdoor patio becomes real lively in the warmer months.
The menu offers a wide array of items, including empanadas, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, salads, burgers, sandwiches and more. The eatery also has a large selection of drinks, including some very popular margaritas. The Cabana, at 1034 W. Beech St., is one of the resident favorites in the West End.
This one is kind of cheating, but there are two restaurants — both starting with L.B. — that are cool to check out: L.B. Social and L.B. Bistro, both owned by Matthew Hisiger.
L.B. Social is a seasonal American spot with cozy, comfortable inside seating and a small amount of outdoor seating, right across from the LIRR station, at 62 W. Park Ave. The menu feels upscale, with a selection of meat and fish, salads, desserts, cocktails and wines.
L.B. Bistro, though it shares the same first half of the name, is not at all like L.B. Social. The French-inspired eatery, offers a wide menu of soups, seafood, escargot, fondue, beignets, salads and meats. The décor and lighting gives the bistro a comfortable feel, and is located right in the middle of town, at 150 E. Park Ave.
Jetty Bar & Grill, known simply as The Jetty to many, acts as both a lively bar and a family-friendly restaurant with sidewalk seating. The inside can get quite loud with music, laughter and chatter, yet the outside seating offers a bit of a quieter dinner option.
The menu features American-style tapas, tacos, sandwiches, burgers, salads, flatbreads, and arepas. Located at the beginning of the West End, at 832 W. Beech St., The Jetty is a fun stop for anyone looking for a small bite with a lively atmosphere.
Lost and Found isn’t a big spot, nestled in at 951 W. Beech St., but it does make a big impression with its menu. The rusticchic restaurant doesn’t have a massive selection, but everything is well conceived. The offerings are best described as “new American,” featuring small plates and salads, seafood, meats, and craft cocktails. The atmosphere is also something to talk about. The layout and décor make it feel cozy, blocking out the sometimes-noisy West End.
Felicia is relatively new to Long Beach, quietly arriving near the center of town, at 26 E. Park Ave. The new addition to the city is a wine and cocktail bar experience, accompanied by small plates and interesting food choices.
The menu is littered with choices including tacos, salads, fish, poultry, and cheese and meat boards, even offered during happy hours and brunches. The food is of interest, but the real star is the drink options. Cocktails, wines, whiskeys, bourbons, beer, and dessert beverages are all worth a try.
All addresses are in Long Beach, N.Y. 11561, unless otherwise noted.
