Hello everyone, and welcome to my first bull sale catalog! I’m writing this with great excitement, as I’ve been raising Fleckviehs since 2014 and selling bulls since 2018—but I’ve never made a catalog until now. This is an exciting step, and I’m thrilled to showcase my offering to you all. Thank you for taking the time to check it out, and I hope you enjoy seeing what I have to offer! For the past seven years, I’ve been selling bulls privately, relying on word of mouth and social media for advertising. In 2023, I made the switch to selling 2-year-olds, and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made. We calve from mid-March to early May, which made it difficult to sell yearling bulls that could reliably pass a semen test. Now, with 2-year-olds, we can grow the bulls out slowly, while saving their feet, increasing their longevity, and giving them the extra time they need to mature. Clients from the last couple of years have been impressed with how well their 2-year-olds bulls hold up at the end of the breeding season. I believe this is due to our feeding program and our focus on selecting easy-keeping, efficient cattle.
Now I want to emphasize that these bulls are not leftovers. I cull hard at weaning to ensure that only the highest-quality bulls are sold. This year, I have three bulls available. The offering is small, but between strict culling and a smaller number of bull calves in 2023, only these three made the cut. There are two registered Fullbloods and one unregistered Purebred bull. I also want to take a moment to thank my parents, Tracy and Melanie. They do endless work to help me with my Fullblood herd, and without them, I wouldn’t be able to do what I love. A simple “thank you” isn’t enough!
Now, without further ado, take a look at what Nelson Ranch has to offer! These bulls are being sold privately, so please don’t hesitate to call me with any questions.

Here is a solid bull. 129L is easy fleshing, deep, and has a strong hind quarter. His dam is a polled cow purchased from Swantewitt Simmentals and she has been a strong producer for us. What this bull lacks in pigment around is eyes, he sure makes up for in style and depth. He is also a polled bull, just to add an extra bonus.

This was a commercial calf that was special from the beginning. I may have told our good friend Carver Johnson at branding to leave the nuts on this one (to my dad’s demise), as he was a bull coming from a very strong commercial cow in our herd. She has a perfect udder, milks exceptionally well, and exudes femininity, She is just a maternal dream. It is safe to say I was happy to keep a commercial calf as a bull, as this 174L has turned many heads in the bull pen. This bull could actually be registered as a 7/8 purebred. But the grand dam was sold to a family friend and then we purchased the dam a few year later, and just never got around to registering this line. This bull is polled, cherry red, and as long as they come.

94L is a bull that sometimes gets overlooked, as he is horned and a diluter carrier. I still think this bull has a lot to offer. 94L is a bull you can throw on your tan or red cows and expect strong rates of gain from your calves. He has length, frame, and the muscling to back it. Loki’s sire, G-Force, sires some of our best calves every single year. His daughters have perfect udders, small teats, and are built like tanks. The sons are made to gain, and solid from brisket to rump. I have no doubt Loki will take after his sire. Give this bull a serious look!

RENDEZVOUS 591K

Mentors may come and go, but the wisdom and the knowledge they leave behind, stays with us forever.

Last March, we lost a dear friend. Anyone who knew Darren knew what an incredible and kind man he was. He loved a good laugh, had a deep passion for cattle, and was like family to us—just as his wife, Tracy, and daughters, Caitlin and Nicole, continue to be.
Darren was my first and most loyal bull customer. No one took as much interest in my herd and genetics as he did. We could talk for hours about which bulls to use, which cows to keep, and which to cull. I’ll always cherish the memories of looking at cattle together, shopping for bulls, and the many impromptu farm visits filled with good conversation.
Darren, you are deeply missed.
