KEEPING IT SIMPLE

When it comes to personal style, Jim Hutelmyer believes in simplicity and minimalist elegance.

Hutelmyer’s passion for his career spanning over two decades – he is a mortgage loan officer and branch manager of The Hutelmyer Group – is only matched by his enthusiasm for fashion. He also gains inspiration in his home life, turning to his fashion-savvy wife and two daughters to help him refine his sense of style.

“My personal style is clean, simple, and understated,” Hutelmyer says. “A pair of shorts paired with a well-fitting T-shirt exudes my laid-back yet put-together vibe.”

Finding clothes that fit his tall and lean frame has been a challenge for Hutelmyer, but he has discovered several brands that cater to his needs. For T-shirts, he favors the drop-cut designs by B.Y.L.T.; for casual wear, he gravitates toward Travis Mathew; and for shoes, he opts for New Balance.

“There seems to be a classic dad shoe movement making New Balance cool and I am here for it and trying to do my part.”

When he’s on the clock, Hutelmyer leans toward sport coats during the winter months for a professional touch. In the summer, he embraces golf shirts to beat the heat.

What are your favorite trends? The jogger trend is great. They are basically sweat pants that are all the sudden considered high style. I love no-show socks with dress shoes and suits, and the golf clothing being worn everywhere trend. It also looks to me like cargo pants and shorts are trying to make a comeback and I am ready for that one!

What is your must-have fashion item? I like to have at least three solid color suits ready to roll in my closet. The solid colors make it hard to mess up and I mix the jackets in with a lot of the other outfits I wear.

What is your favorite store? State and Liberty in Scottsdale Quarter. The brand makes the most lightweight dress shirts I have ever come across and they look great and don’t wrinkle. They are perfect for the Arizona heat.
