A Message From The Chapter President

As the President of Richland County Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2023 Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant Experience. The pageant supports the sorority’s mission and Five Point Programmatic Thrust specifically in the areas of educational development, economic development and physical and mental health. This historical biennial pageant is a signature event for our chapter. We take great pride in providing this youth development and scholarship program for our community. The theme, “Walking in Our Gowns, Tiaras and Crowns,” highlights the essence of who you are and what you hope to become as young women. The Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant raises funds to provide financial support to young women and men as they further their education and also supports community programming and public service projects. To date the Richland County Alumnae Chapter has given over $200,000 in scholarships since our chartering in 1994. The Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant culminates in an evening of elegance and entertainment that showcases the gifts and talents of the young ladies. For almost thirty years, Richland County Alumnae has embraced sisterhood, scholarship, service and social action. With your support, we can continue to transform lives and impact our communities in our service areas. On behalf of the 360+ members of Richland County Alumnae, we thank you for the opportunity to serve you. Yours In Service,

Lavell R.Thornton Chapter President

A Message From the Committee Chairs The Richland County Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated is excited to welcome you to Jabberwock 2023 "Walking in our Gowns, Tiaras, and Crowns". Since 1926, Jabberwock has been presented nationally by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., to raise funds to carry out the mission of the Sorority. The idea of Jabberwock comes from the poem told by Lewis Carroll in his famous book, "Alice in Wonderland". The Jabberwock, a mythical character, called together the members of his kingdom at least once a year to put on a show. In a like manner, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., calls its members and community together to enjoy an evening of celebrating our youth. Tonight, we present to you 7 beautiful young ladies between the ages of 11 and 18 who will entertain you and dazzle you with their charm and talent. Each contestant has participated in several enrichment workshops, community service events and fundraising. They have worked diligently during this Jabberwock season and are ready to participate in a regal display of pageantry! As Chair and Co-chair for this event, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our contestants, parents and guardians, chapter members, the 2023 Jabberwock committee, and all of our community supporters. Your continued dedication, commitment and support is what makes this event possible! With the community on our side , Richland County will continue to do great things!! Please sit back and enjoy your evening. Best Regards,

Berry as co-anchor for the 6 and 7PM Newscast. In August of 2007, Darci and Andrea Mock changed the face of local TV news by starting Friends at Five.
