It is my great honor and pleasure to represent the City of Stoughton as its mayor. Stoughton is the birthplace of the Coffee Break, the world-famous Stoughton High School Norwegian Dancers, the annual Syttende Mai Celebration and Stoughton Trailers. Residents and visitors alike have come to appreciate our Historic Downtown Arts and Entertainment District, including the Stoughton Opera House. The Stoughton Fair, Gazebo Music, Catfi sh River Music Festival, Art Walk, Livsreise, Coffee Break Festival, Holiday Lights, farmers markets and athletic events are some of the activities you can enjoy while in Stoughton. Located near the State Capital, Stoughton offers a great quality of life and a strong local economy. All of this is possible through our community members’ commitment to Stoughton.

City Council

Three alders are elected by the voters in each of the four aldermanic districts. The term of offi ce is three years. As members of the City Council, the 12 alder’s chief responsibility is that of policy makers. In addition to setting policy, the Council approves and oversees the budget and city spending, is involved in community planning, establishing and reviewing programs, has the responsibility of administrative oversight, and is involved in confl ict resolution.
