Tributes paid to Darryl, 'one of the good guys' Tributes have been paid to former Filton Town Council chair Darryl Collins, who has died aged 76. Darryl, a long-standing trade unionist and champion of making Filton a better place, leaves behind his daughter Lheanna and son Dayle. He worked as a machine shop inspector at BAC, Airbus and GKN and was also a passionate advocate for pensioners' rights, serving on the National Pensioners' Convention for many years. Cabinet members approved an early version of next year’s budget in October and said they faced “incredibly difficult decisions”. Proposals to reduce spending and increase charges include changes to the council tax reduction scheme to save £400,000 a year, a new admin fee for disabled blue-badge holders and a 20 per cent rise in the cost of burial rights at cemeteries.
